This place had a good rate and really cool rooms. The room we stayed in had an amazing arched painted ceiling., It felt really authentic and old. There was lots of room for us to spread out our things and feel comfortable. We had a room at the front of the building though and the street was rather loud. The location of this place was great and the service was fine. Their breakfast was also very fresh and tasty :) yummy pastries!

This hotel is in walking distance of everything in the core, every main attraction including Pitti Palace. Being here was not bargain priced but we saved time and taxis by being here. The breakfasts were elegant and the staff was charming, two ladies that worked hard to cover the busy multi-national breakfast scene. The front desk was courteous and helpful. Our rooms were clean and everything worked. the Old World building was quite delightful to stay at. The cleaning ladies were inobtrusive.
I have no hesitation in recommending the place if you are blitzing Florence. Location!

My fiance and I stayed here in June and overall we were quite pleased with the hotel. It is roughly 4 blocks from the train station and can be reached easily by walking. The hotel is also easy walking distance to all the major sites/attractions. Service at the hotel was probably the best among all the hotels I've visited in Italy. The front desk attained reservations for both the Accademia (David) and Uffizi for us, a big convenience. The rooms had an old museum or castle-like feel and therefore had a unique character that most hotels simply can't offer. The breakfast room (breakfast was included) had frescoed ceilings and they served a true italian cappuccino (if you asked) which was first rate. Breakfast was more than adequate for us and similar to what other hotels offered. We did not find any odd smells as other reviews had pointed out and we're particularly sensitive to odors so I think we would have noticed. Our first room was a split level with a queen-size bed in a loft and bathroom on the lower level. We found this room a bit inconvenient (which had a very small bathroom) but the staff happily agreed to offer us a different room for our second and third nights. Both rooms had renovated bathrooms and the one area of the hotel that departs from the old world style. Air conditioning worked well and beds were comfortable. If you're one who depends on modern accomodations and features this hotel is not for you but if you enjoy something a little different, with some old-world character we think you'll appreciate and enjoy your stay at this hotel.

After staying in a small room in Venice arriving at this hotel was a pleasant surprise, it was huge, our room had 2 double beds which were so comfy, pillows were soft so we slept really well. Reception staff were only to willing to help with directions and places to eat. There is a great little restaurant right across the street they have a great set menu which is very reasonably priced and the food is delicious. This hotel satisified our every need and it is easy to walk to from the train station.
