“The most exquisite, unforgettable experience. Absolutely outstanding!”

We had the Deluxe Machiavelli Room at Palazzo Vecchietti during our first visit to Florence from 19/1/12 to 22/1/12. I must say it was by far the most unique and wonderful experience that we have had.

We were greeted very warmly by the charming Valentina at the front desk as we arrived around 12pm. To our surprise, Valentina told us that our room was ready (the standard check in time is 2pm). She then sat us down, offerred us a glass of prosecco, gave us an overview of the attractions in Florence, maps and other useful materials. She even taught me the correct pronunciations of some useful Italian phrases (which proved to be extremely useful later on through out our trip in Italy).

We were then shown our room, and how to use the espresso machine in the kitchen (a really nice touch, we could have coffee and hot drinks whenever we wanted). Our room was impeccable, very spacious and comfortable; the deco was fresh and modern with a simple yet elegant Italian flair. The room and the bathroom were even more stunning than the pictures that we had seen (even though the room did look really good in those pictures). Our room was kept spotless clean every day. And it was really nice to have a terrace, perfect to chill and have a glass of wine/coffee when we get back from sightseeing.

The sound proof was effective, the hotel was always very quiet. The internet was fast and we were able to use all of our devices (2 laptops, 2 mobile phones and an Ipad) at the same time. The kitchen was well-equipped, coffee tablets were replaced everyday and there were some basic cutlery and utensils for us to use. The breakfast was served in the breakfast room on the third floor (conveniently, right next to our room) and everything served was fresh and delicious. I especially loved the communal table in the breakfast room where I enjoyed chatting to other guests during breakfast. There were always fresh fruit such as apples, oranges and bananas left for guests at the breakfast room which was really nice.

Its prime location in the middle of Via degli Strozzi means you are right in the middle of actions. It takes 10 minutes, very easy walk to get here from Florence central station (SMN). The lively Piazza della Repubblica is a few steps away. The breathtaking Duomo is just 2 minutes walk up the street. You could reach all other major attractions such as Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, Galleria degli Uffizi, Via Tornabuoni where you find Gucci, Prada, and Ferragamo, San Lorenzo market etc in less than 5 minutes, Oltrarno is 15 minutes away. Many highly ranked restaurants on TA are within walking distance from the hotel as well.

What I love most about Palazzo Vecchietti is its small, intimate and homely setting. It didn't feel like a hotel, where service is usually professional, but somewhat distant. And this, in my opinion sets Palazzo Vecchietti miles apart from other hotels that we have stayed. We felt very relaxed the whole time as if we were staying at a friend's place. Everyone, from the front desk to the breakfast room were gracious, friendly and really helpful. Valentina also helped us make all of our dinner reservations during our stay in Florence 2 weeks prior to our arrival. Her replies to my emails were also prompt. The check in and check out process were extremely efficient as well.

Overall, we were most impressed by Palazzo Vecchietti. Everything about it was perfect. Our stay at Palazzo Vecchietti was a bit of a splurge but it was worth every euro!! !

Thank you Valentina and everybody else at Palazzo Vecchietti, you made our visit to Florence a truly special and unforgettable affair. We will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: The Deluxe Machiavelli Room (302) was amazing!

“Topnotch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We walked (7 min) from the train station to the hotel. Check-in was quick and we were guided to our room (Botticelli) on the second floor. The room was just right, tastefully furnished and with a sense for useful details, like a magnifying glass on the shelf. We did not miss a bath tub, the luxury shower was good enough. We used the small kitchen to make some tea or coffee (free of charge),only. Mineral water and internet was complimentary. Breakfast was first rate, with eggs freshly cooked, good cheese, ham and sausage, fresh fruit salad and cake. An unusual detail: The guests sit all together around a large table, sadly we were the only guests. It will be difficult to find a better service. The only flaw is the street-noise during the night even in winter at the week-end. Would we stay there again? Definately, if we can afford it.

“Great location, great staff, great rooms!”

Stayed during Thanksgiving week and found the Palazzo Vecchietti to be a wonderful place to stay. The location was perfect and the rooms were the best of any hotel on our trip. One issue to note is that if you need total quiet to sleep I would recommend an inside room as there seems to be a nightclub close by that empties out around 4am that creates quite a ruckus. Otherwise perfect!

“Palazzo Vecchieti, Florence”

It was the occassion of my 50th birthday and myself and my husband spent 6 fabulous days enjoying Florence from this wonderful old style Pallazzo.
It is situated ideally in the heart of the old town opposite beautiful Florentine squares ,palazzos and ideal for designer shopping and all the historical sites museums and pAlaces which are all within walking distance .
There is a great variety of wonderful places to eat and our personal butler recommended superb restuarants for special celebrations , great Trattorias for typical Italian cuisine and wine bar style bistros for just light lunches .
We were greeted after a long but most enjoyable high speed train journey from Paris by Paulo , our personal butler and an introductory glass of prosecco and an overview of the history, before settling into our very comfortable suite.(Paulo thank you , you were fabulous !)
Breakfast is served in a wonderful welcoming dining room , with a great selection of breakfast delights from ham and cheeses , through fresh fruit cereal and yoghurt, to italian pastries .Coffee ,teas etc are all served in fine bone china, by the very attentive staff.
All in all we had a fabulous trip , much enhanced by this beautiful hotel and its staff.
My only reservation in posting this review is that you will all book it and there will be no availbility when I will undoubtedly return.!
I think overall the best birthday experience I have enjoyed - hope you do too.

Room Tip: Our suite Machiavelli with an upstairs patio was amazing.!

“An Incredible Hotel Experience”

This is a first-class property. It was on a list of hotels recommended by our tour company and we selected it from a review of the web site and reviews. It did not disappoint. The hotel knew it was our 30th anniversary and upgraded us to the full suite, which was really an apartment with every possible amenity. Everything about the place was excellent, from the champagne greeting to the breakfast room. The staff was first rate and met our every need. Excellent location. Highly recommended!!
