“Quiet, Elegant, Friendly, Accommodating, Lovely Tuscany Villa!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

In planning our 30th Wedding Anniversary trip to Italy, I carefully reviewed a multitude of places to stay for our Tuscany segment. Our decision for Villa di Piazzano far exceeded our hopes and dreams. We stayed in a deluxe "Casina delle Rose" room, which turned out to be a stone cottage set apart from the Villa! What a pleasant surprise! Way beyond a mere deluxe accommodation! So quiet, private, peaceful. Birds were singing, including a cuckoo birds, which was very pleasant. Allessandra, the owner, and Lorella, who welcomed us, were charming, delightful, and extremely helpful from our planning stages to our farewell. The breakfast spread is top notch! On our Anniversary, we came back from Assisi to find a bottle of champagne, a rose, and a congratulations note in our room! So thoughtful! On our last morning, Allessandra gave us a tour of the wine cellar and shared stories of the history of the villa. I could go on and on about the wonderful experience, but you will just have to see for yourself. Words just don't do justice to Villa di Piazzano.

“Under the Tuscan Sun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2010

We had the pleasure of staying at the Villa Di Piazzano and it exceeded our expecations. The Villa is surrounded by mountains and located in secluded area within 10 minutes of Cortona. The rooms are nicely appointed and the staff were very helpful, warm and friendly. The food was excellent - both breakfast (included in our package) and dinner (your choice to eat there). The garden and pool and surrounding areas were well manicured and very peaceful. The location is within 1 hour of San Gimilgnano, Montepulciano and several other lovely Tuscan cities. Great choice - very romantic and endearing.

“Fabulous Tuscan country hotel - rustically elegant, romantic and family friendly.”

Villa di Piazzano is a delightful country hotel and an excellent place from which to explore the wonders of Tuscany. We had a wonderful time there, and were looked after by all the staff, who are all very warm and friendly. The hotel chef is amazing and the breakfasts, dinners and wine were all superb. Excellent value. My children enjoyed themselves thoroughly and the Wimpole family, who own and run the hotel, were gracious and generous hosts. If you plan a trip to Tuscany, I would highly recommend you make Villa di Piazzano your base.

“Great place to relax after a day of sightseeing”

Villa di Piazzano is a luxurious 'estate' hotel (15th century hunting lodge) just a few minutes drive from Cortona's shops, markets, restaurants and historic sites. The grounds are beautiful; unfortunately it was still too cold to enjoy a drink by the pool after a day of sight seeing when we were there at the end of March. We relaxed inside; the villa has a number of lounges with elegant furniture that are wonderful places for revisiting maps and reviewing photos. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated. We had a view to the hills of Cortona – what a sight at night. Breakfast was very good and food & wine at the restaurant delicious. The service was excellent, staff was happy to assist with car rental (we arrived by train from Venice) as well as recommend and book nearby winery tours ('a must' when visiting Cortona area) as well as providing us with great recommendations to experience the local rustic pizzeria as well as up market restaurants in Cortona. The experience at Villa di Piazzano is worth every euro. We had a wonderful stay.

“Charming, great, unforgetable place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2010

I have been in Villa di Piazzano for my honeymoon for two nights.
We regret not to be more time, because it was a great experience! The best? It's a charming hotel, with life; situated in a great place, with beautiful landscapes; and the service, the food is just unforgettable.
We have dinner twice in the villa, because it has a fantastic food and service. The best desert I have ever eaten, it was the tiramisu.
We went to Cortona by bike and it was great (a small town with character, typical Tuscany). A little bit hard (not for everyone), but it deserves the work to go up the hill. After, it's a wonderful way down.
We also loved the street with trees all along that goes to the villa.
We hope to get there again! To visit more things around, or maybe only to stay more time.
