We spent a week at the San Pietro and had essentially very pleasant experiences: the staff, in particular at the front-desk, went out of its way to satisfy us and our indecisiveness regarding which room to pick. Breakfast overlooking the Sea is a unique experience in the warm October morning sun and the choice and quality of foods is also excellent (even if the teas are a bit 'supermarket'). The rooms are typical rooms for hot environments: relatively dark and 'cold' in their decoration. I suppose it's perfect in the July and August blazing sun, in October it's a bit, well, cold! Being a Relais & Châteaux, we were a bit disappointed by the building itself (non-descript). R&C generally are located in old, historic buildings with chararcter, clearly not the case here. The location for us was perfect: 10 minute walk form center, without the stress of the buses and their hundreds of cruise-ship passengers invading Taormina on a regular basis.
All in all a very nice experience and a good value.
