I searched on Trip Advisor for hotels in Taormina and after reading the reviews I had to stay at Villa Angela. When we arrived the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They recommended a cozy family owned restaurant up the hill, which has fabulous. Beyond the service, I can’t even describe the amazing view of Mt Etna and the coast. It literally took my breath away… blue coastal waters, mountain side rocks, and smoke coming from the mountain top. We ended up sending a few evening on our patio enjoying the view with a fine bottle of Italian wine. The staff had told us a few weeks before we arrived they could see lava flowing from the top. I could imagine how beautiful that would have been to see from our room! Furthermore ,the facilities were very nice, clean, and well designed. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Villa Angela.

a special trip for us and we can't speak highly enough of the place. the staff are attentive if you need them, nothing is to much trouble. you never get fed up of looking at the view. not a problem getting into town on the shuttle. drinks in the bar are a bit pricey and also the mini bar. breakfast was good, if you have lunch in thats very good, the hotel only cooks in one night a week, but excellant. we ate twice in the nearest restaurant up the hill, which again was excellent. this wasn't a cheap holiday , but you do get what you pay for. eating out in taormina was costly though, between 60 to 80 euros a night for two and we weren't going mad. had a beer and a bacardi and coke in a bar in town and i was charged 18 euros. i booked and travelled independantly as only ryan air flights to palermo fitted in , hired a car and drove over , which was fine, went through the middle of the island to get there but theres nothing in the middle, no tolls though either.. i'd have no trouble reccommending the hotel at all. we paid 196 euros per night

Even the wet and cloudy early November weather couldn't spoil our stay here. We were made to feel special by the staff from the moment we stepped through the door and they were unfailingly cheerful and helpful throughout our 5-day stay. Special mention for Charlie and Katherine, but that is only because they were on duty for most of our stay! None of the staff could be faulted at all. We were given great advice on restaurants, transport options etc. and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Our room was very comfortable with a large, covered (useful in the weather!) balcony and views over Etna and the Med. the buffet breakfast interesting and varied, and the restaurant staff cheerful and attentive. We enjoyed our picturesque walks down the steps from the church, following the path used by worshippers from a bygone age, to the centre of town which takes about 15mins, but called for the very reliable hotel mini-bus service for the return journey!
Sadly the weather precluded a trip up Mt Etna and in fact, we only saw it for about 2 hours early one morning, but can't think of a better excuse to return here!

You start with the free parking lot on the roof and linger there for 20 minutes looking at the incredible view of Mount Etna and the bay. Then you visit reception and are greeted by Charlie, always smiling and helpful. It is not often that one individual can make such a difference in how much you enjoy your stay. Charlie is that one individual. He was outstanding. The room was clean, well arranged. The balcony large enough to enjoy. Breakfast was plentiful. Overall the hotel was a great place to stay.
