A pretty slick if pricey hotel> Unfortunately right on main road and our room was at the front so constant traffic noise.Also noise of televisions in other rooms close by. Room standard excellent, shower walk-in type which I love. Sheets would be changed everyday and lovely thick large bath towels. We used the roof top swimming pool a couple of times, a little small but great all the same. Can get breezy up there but there are good views.The hotel is a fair walk from Ortigia ( the old centre of Siracusa ) and taxis seemed overpriced...we got charged 10 euros for the 5 minute drive back one night. Right opposite the Archeological Parco, with Greek and Roman Theatres etc.

Stayed for 2 nights in August in an executive room. Our stay was practically perfect. The staff was very friendly and gave us a lot of info on where to eat in Ortigia, where to park in the city center, etc... The executive room was really nice. It had a king bed and a nice sofa and a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom!!!! Room and hotel spaces were modern and extremely clean. Breakfast buffet is a bit small in terms of space but the selection of food available is outstanding! The hotel has a garage (7 euros per day) and also free parking. There's also a small restaurant but it wasn't open during the weekend. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at this hotel (unfortunatelly) only 3nights, but our stay was perfect. Location of this hotel is ideal, staff is absolutelly profesional and also property is wonderful:-)
Breakfast are excelent-you have a lot of variations even if you are there for more than 1night.
Definitelly we recommend this hotel to everyone-great value for money.

I knew what to expect going in so I was not disappointed but I could see how people would have a real issue if they expected to be right in the heart of Siracusa and stayed at this hotel. First, let me say, the Mercure is very clean and modern. The staff was also very helpful. The only drawback is that is quite far from most of the tourist attractions/restaurants with the exception of the archiological ruins directly across the street. However, if you don't mind a 15-20 min walk to everything it was perfectly fine. We decided we would rather stay at a higher quality hotel and walk to everything rather than stay in a more run down hotel in the historic center. It's a trade off so just take that into consideration. Also we had a rental car and this hotel was very easy to get to and parking was a cinch. There's no way we would have been able to navigate through the narrow streets of the historic center.
