“Great place to stay in Palermo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Very sweet, welcoming family, very nice rooms, quiet, clean, great breakfast. The owners very kind and personable. the beds and linens clean, I slept very well. Nice sturdy and clean bathrooms. My 84 year old Mother was traveling with us, the Senor said "where's the Nona?" (Grandmother). as we were leaving, the couple gave us small gifts and a very special gift for my Mother. I would love to go back and stay here. Highly recommended!

“Conveniently located in the train station/bus depot area but...”

We stayed in this B&B for two nights. We chose the place as we will be taking the bus into the city upon our arrival at the airport. The place is a short walk from the plaza Gulio Cesare and the central train station/bus depot where the airport bus ends and starts. We wanted a place where we could readily drop our bags after getting off the bus so we could start exploring the city right away, and catch the bus back to the airport (to pick up our rental car) after the 2 day- sightseeing trip. With respect to the aforementioned convenience relating to its proximity to the bust depot, I would highly recommend this B&B.

The lady (forgot her name) at the B&B welcomed us and told us that the owner will not be around for the length of our stay as he is with his girlfriend who is celebrating her birthday that weekend. Our room was good. As the first guests who arrived that day, we got to pick our room. Overall, we felt safe and comfortable.

However, there were two things that could have made our stay better. Firstly, the breakfast could be better. We were served what essentially was a continental breakfast - coffee, juice, bread, butter and jam - nothing particularly special. We were served commercial bread/toasts in plastic wrappers. The big group of Italian guests sitting with us in the breakfast room were also clearly underwhelmed with the food choice. They had asked for fresh fruit (which is bountiful in Sicily) but their requests were not accommodated. Secondly, the service could be better. We had high expectations of their service because of what we read from the reviews. Unfortunately, the lady who was entrusted to manage the place during our stay was overwhelmed with work. Cleaning materials such as broom, liquid cleaner, etc could be seen lying around the area. Breakfast was slow as she was overwhelmed with all the work of preparing the food, making coffee, serving the guests, etc. We were already half way through our meal before the lady was able to serve us coffee, when it was the first thing we wanted to have when we sat for breakfast. We wanted another cup of coffee but decided not to ask for another one as we didn't want to wait a long time. We ended up having our second cup of coffee in the coffee shop around the corner from the B&B. She was a very nice lady but was very overwhelmed with work during our stay.

Room Tip: We chose the red over the blue room, which is nicer.

“Jesus, and I, recommend B&B O'Scia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Pope Benedict XVI greets you upon your entrance, and Jesus on the cross presides over the reception desk. Holographic Jesus Himself watches over you as you sleep, as the artwork above your bed.

B&B O'Scia was our FORTH attempt at accommodation in Palermo. Two B&Bs didn't answer our requests for a room and one wouldn't hold luggage the day of checkout. So we picked O'Scia, with its perfect combination of price, location and response (booked via Expedia). And I'm glad we did!

The 2-person staff (family, I assume) running it were very friendly and accommodating, even though the old gentleman didn't speak a word of English. We all made ourselves understood. The location was perfect and our room faced the courtyard, so it was perfectly quiet until the morning hustle and bustle of the hotel began.

It's a 2 minute walk from the piazza/train station/airport bus stop. You could see the hotel towels drying on a line in the courtyard so it's environmentally friendly to boot. Overall a really great place, though I can't speak for the breakfast as we didn't get up for it.

Even us non-wed, non-believers felt at home here among the religious memorabilia. A great choice for Palermo.

“Really friendly welcome!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

We stayed here for 1 night on the way back from a week in Cefalu looking for venues for our yoga holidays. It was a little tricky to find and the street wasn't that great looking but the location perfect for the train station and to check out the sights. We spent most of our time eating because the food in Sicily is amazing. Our room was lovely and what you expect for a B&B but what REALLY made it was the lovely couple who run the place. They were so hospitable and made us feel at home straight away, even getting our room ready quickly as we turned up quite early. Breakfast the next morning was even more special as the signora baked us a cake as we had to leave early for our flight and so the bakeries weren't open for them to buy their usual pastries. We would definitely recommend this place and will be back! Thank you O'Scia for such a warm weclome and the little gift and card you gave us on our departure!

“Very hospitable, Conveniently located for main attractions”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2011

We stayed at the O' Scia for 3 nights and found it an excellent base for visiting the many cultural sites in Palermo. Roberto and his parents were extremely hospitable and very helpful with any questions we had. They recommended some great places to eat, and the best sites to visit during our brief stay.

I'd echo earlier comments regarding the abundant and and delicious breakfast, especially the ricotta pastries.

Room Tip: Great location for markets, restaurants etc
