The Domus Hotel is nothing luxurious however, it's very central and very very clean. We were greeted at the reception and since we were there early and the room was not yet ready, they kept our luggage for us. The tenants, although, they don't speak english very well, give you their best help, in places to visit and how to find directions and take buses etc..

Our room was on the floor above the reception. We had booked a triple room and were given a quad, which was even better as the room was very big and spacious. The building is very clean, the floors and bathrooms spotless, and the sheets were crisp white. There are some minor defects in the building which might need some maintenance like some mold on the walls, but that didn't affect the cleanliness or tidiness at all. The rooms are airconditioned and kept very cool, and there's a small flat screen tv and mini fridge to keep refreshments in. They never switched our aircondition off while we were not there, so to find the room nice and cool when we arrive back.

The hotel is very central, it's on Via Etnea, the main road full of shops and retail outlets, just across are Giardini Bellini for whoever wants to go for a stroll, and just round the corner is Catania's famous market where one can make very good deals. Bus stops are just outside the hotel, and if you need a taxi the hotel staff will be happy to supply you with numbers of people to call. The hotel has WIFI all throughout but I could not get access from the room, so whenever I needed to use the internet I had to go down at the reception and use my laptop there. Our room did not look on Via Etnea like we had requested on the booking, but now we think that was even better, as the room was very quiet.

All in all, we would definitely re visit, and would surely recommend to others. The breakfast, although basic was very good. There were a variety of cereals, pastries and fruits, tea and coffee and for whoever wanted a capuccino or espresso they could do it for you.

For the money this is a great place. The rooms are a good size. The bathrooms were very clean. The staff, although not the best English speakers, were very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was great with fresh pastries, fresh strawberries, hot coffee, and assorted Continental breakfast items. From the airport we took the city bus to main train station because we needed to buy train tickets but we could have gotten off before the train station and walked a few blocks to this hotel. There are several buses that run in on the street in front. It can be noisy since it is a high traffic area - not a fault of the hotel's - bring ear plugs. The front rooms have a balcony with an excellent view of Mt Etna. We took a guided tour and were picked up in front of the hotel. If you enjoy walking most of the tourist things can be reached on foot from here.

Stayed at the Domus Hotel for 4 days - Hotel is small yet very central, clean and with friendly staff. Our room was overlooking Via Etnea with views of Villa Bellini. Bathrooms are very good sized and even bedroom was of a good size. The hotel is just a couple of minutes away from Catania's popular market and also other attractions nearby.
