Stayed here for two nights in November, on our trip across Italy tracing the Appian Way. Very, very pleasantly surprised by our lovely accommodation at the Hotel Europa! We had room 206, which was a corner suite. Downstairs was an entry-hall, living/dining room and a small kitchenette. Up a winding stairway was the loft bedroom and bathroom. We opened up the shutters on the huge doors and had views in two directions -- one onto the harbor, and the other into the bay. Everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We ate both nights at the restaurant, not because we wanted to the second night, but there was a torrential rainstorm and we didn't want to get soaked. Food was fine, but very limited menu; mostly fish. Electricity went out because of the storm for about an hour, but there were emergency lights on both floors of our suite, and everything was fine. Would very much recommend the Europa to anyone traveling to or through Taranto.

On business for two days. Had a split level floor room with balcony overlooking castle. Room a bit 80'ish in decor, but very clean.

Fantatastic room. Bed on mezzanine floor linked to ground floor with a sprial staircase. Room overlooked the harbour adjacent to the naval base. Reception staff went out of their way to be helpful gave lots of useful information about the city. Room service very good. Breakfast adequate. Limited choice but plenty in quantity.
Only slight disadvantage and it is only a slight one is the distant noise coming from the adjacent naval base. Why do sailors have to be so noisily jolly so early in the morning?

A well-kept property in a fairly clean part of Taranto.

Quite a few of the rooms are stunning: two stories high nearest the windows, with a spiral stairway leading to the upper level. Our was more pedestrian; probably given to us since we were only spending one night there.

The breakfast (included in room price) is high-quality. The front-desk staff is multi-lingual and very knowledgeable of the city and surrounding communities.

There's a nice, clean pedestrian mall nearby; a great place to watch Italian people acting like Italians.

The only thing missing was internet connectivity.

On balance I'd stay there again.
