Very little change (except for the cost) over fifty years. Centrally located in an alley with the same name near Rialto, this trattoria has the same menu, decor, ambiance and feeling of decades ago. As they don't take reservations, you should have no problem if you show up before 12.30 for lunch and 7.30 for dinner. There are several rooms, the first one usually seating locals. As expected there are tourists but it is also frequented, especially at lunch, by regular Venetians. The food continues to be great and it is mostly Venetian. The risotto di pesce or the pasta with black squid ink are remarkable. If you order risotto you have to wait 25 min since they start each order from scratch. So you may consider ordering a granseola as appetizer. It is a local fresh crab meat simply prepared with parsley and oil, expensive but divine. There are a dozen of choices of fish, mostly grilled and simply but very well prepared. Scampi and calamaretti fritti is also a Venetian specialty you may wish to try. Plenty of choices for dessert. The list of wine is simple: the best choice is to stick with Tokay (now called friulano because of protests from Hungary and because it is an entirely different grape). The prices are relatively high for a trattoria but then we are in Venice. Service is fast and accurate. I have been eating there for half a century and, although I live thousands miles away I keep returning. I highly recommend it for simple but well executed traditional Venetian food, for it's location and the overall experience.
