“Next Time I’m Bringing My Wife”

My stay at Domus Orsoni was extremely pleasant. It was very quiet and has a lovely garden with a grand smalti factory and a small mosaic school in the back. Both Valentina and Flavio were very accommodating providing recommendations and advice. It was a short walk to all the Venetian action. The breakfast was very good with a number of choices. The room was very tastefully done with a mosaic motif and the bath was extremely modern. It was a true bargain and next time I’m bringing my wife.

“I felt like I was a resident of Canareggio”

This was a lovely place to spend a week in Venice. The domus is a beautiful building located near the mosaic foundry. The neighborhood is near the train station and bus terminal, but also quiet and not too touristy. The rooms are decorated with mosaic patterns and the bathrooms are new and efficient. Breakfast was served every morning, but otherwise you come and go from the building as if you were a resident, using a large key to enter the main door. About two blocks from the domus you can find fresh fruit stands and markets set up every day. If you enjoy walking, it is about a 15-20 minute scenic walk to St. Mark's and the most popular tourist sites; there is also a vaporetto stop about three blocks from the domus that can get you anywhere you would like in Venice. Highly recommended.

“Six nights at a great place in Venice.”

I have been to Venice twice before and have never stayed on this side of the island, but I was there for a mosaic workshop at the Orsoni Smalti factory so I needed to be in the area. Turns out I would stay in this area again any time - it was such a nice part of the city, away from the crowds but plenty of great restaurants and easily within walking distance of anything else to do in Venice.

I took a public boat from the airport to the Guglie stop. From there it was a short walk (without bridges) to Domus Orsoni. When I arrived Flavio took my bags to my room then gave me a map and marked it for nearby restaurants and sights. He is both helpful and charming as were all the staff. My room was large by European standards and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean with a large shower and great lighting. The air conditioning in the room worked great! Breakfast was 3 kinds of cereal, yogurt, breads/crossiants with butter and jams, coffee & tea. On one day there was a yummy fruit salad.

The only problem I had was with the 1st time I used the key to the main door downstairs - it was not intuitive to me. Fortunately the neighbor across the alley heard me and came to show me how to get in. After that, no problems. Domus Orsoni was a great place to stay at a great price. I'll definitely go back.

“Unbelievably great hotel for the price!!”

Dormus Orsoni is perfectly located. It is just steps from, but not exactly on, the beaten path of Strada Nova. The area of the hotel, the Sestière di Cannaregio, has such a special character, even for Venice. The hotel staff is incredibly gracious and helpful, leaving maps and dinner recommendations upon arrival. It is a home away from home in Venice (if your home is gorgeously and elegantly decorated with Orsoni tiles!) I was so happy to see what I was able to find in Venice for such a reasonable price. I hope to return many times.
