I just returned from spending 3 nights here. Al Teatro is conveniently located 3 minutes walking from St. Mark's square. I traveled solo and was looking for someplace secure and safe; and Al Teatro definitely fit the bill. My room was very clean, with hot water in the shower and Sat tv. When I said that my room was cold (end of January), Eleonora immediately responded to my need. She was very helpful and responsive prior to my trip and while there. In a friendly manner, she provided directions, suggestions for restaurants and even ordered a water taxi for me. After reading other comments, I was a bit apprehensive about walking into her famly's living room. But it was no problem, it's a very comfortable setting and I didn't feel like I was intruding. With regard to directions, from the vaporetta stop you'll take the only path available until it dead ends to the side of a church in a small plaza. Walk around to the right till you face the front door of the church. Now look to your right and that's the path to follow till it dead ends. Then walk right for about 40 feet, you'll see the sign on the door.
