we returned from our first trip to Venice yesterday after a 4 night stay here. Neither Venice or the Ca Angeli dissapointed. We had room number 3 (I think there are only 4 rooms). The hotel is on the 3rd and 4th floor of this building , below are believe apartments. You need to take the lift - gloriously old fashioned) to the 3rd floor. The room was surprisingly large, tastefully decorated with a large double bed and a sofa bed , which was very comfortable. There is a huge wardrobe and a small mini bar, Murano glass chandeliers and light fittings and 2 ancient wooden cerubim. The bathrrom was a decent size with a good size mirror, lovely lighting and a shower. The view was of a small side canal but the Grand can be seen if you look right. The room was attractivly tiled throughout. There is a small mini bar.
The breakfast room at the end of the hallway overlooks the Grand Canal. The furnishings are traditional, comfortable and tasteful. Breakfast selection was buffet style and of a high quality. Beautiful hams, cheeses, croissants. You could freshly squeeze your own juice, and a very pleasant lady offers freshly made, and very good cappucinos and expressos.Vivaldi is played.
I was expecting the room to be noisy for some reason, but I can honestly say I was not disturbed by other guests, staff or sounds from the Canal the entire time. A first anywhere.
I found the bed firm , but this suits me. The linens were good and there were 4 extra pillows in the wardrobe, which also had plenty of - (non fixed) hangers.
Giorgo couldn't have been more helpful, always keen and ready to share tips and advice.
It is I think set in a great location, slightly away from the Rialto hub bub, but has wonderful local restauants, coffee shops,Ostaria and specialised food shops- oh and a 'beatles'shop!
Would I change anything - well no, but the shower was a little diddy, and i would love to be able to get a hot drink there in the evening when the local coffee shops are closed. This might be possible if a part of the breakfast room had a coffee machine/kettle left out for guests. One can after all drink too much wine ?And how about a full length mirror ?
Iloved Venice, and the Angeli was perfect.
tip - there is a great video of how to find the hotel shot on foot through the streets on you tube - type in 'walk ca angeli' , it really helped us to find it.
Would I return ? absolutley ! Belissimo
