“STAY AWAY!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

I'm writing this review to alert other unsuspecting travelers from this awful youth hostel masquerading as a hotel. We spent two nights here recently during a two week trip to Italy and it was by far the worst experience we had in all of Italy and in fact of any hotel we've experienced to date.

1. There was no shower in our room, only a bath.
2. The staff would not change sheets or towels during our stay or supply us with cups. When we complained, they informed us that we would need to wait until after 10 pm at night when a different person would be on duty.
3. The room in which we stayed was very noisy as it was located on one of the major thoroughfares between Saint Mark's Square and the Accademia bridge.
4. The tv did not work.
5. The blowdryer in the bathroom did not work.
6. There was no soap in the bathroom.
7. There was no internet connection available, even though this service is mentioned in advertisements for the hostel.
8. The staff was very unhelpful and made few efforts to remedy any of the aforementioned problems.
9. Bed is two twin beds pushed together.
All for $250 per night!!!
The first floor of this location is a youth hostel with bathrooms down the hall, whereas we supposedly were staying in the hotel section, which was crappy.

Please save your money and stay elsewhere!!!

“Excellent location, cheap, dirty rooms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

I suppose in Venice you cant expect to pay 80 euros per night and get a nice double room, and we cant really tell how it compares to other hotels in the area, but we were disappointed with the room we had here. It was smelly, dirty and small, even the bedding looked quite old and worn out.

The staff were very helpful and the location is excellent, 5 min walk to San Marco and even closer to the Academia. At the end of the day, we were leaving the hotel early and coming back late, so we had a great time overall.

“great for girls weekend, excellent location, but make sure you book the Rezidenza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We recently had 2 nights here. we were a group of 3 girl friends, and we shared a room in the Residenza. We have nothing but good things to say about the place. I made the booking through booking.com, and e-mailed them after reading reviews on Trip Advisor that there were in fact 2 different properties - the hotel and the residenza on the same sight. the main difference seemed to be that the rooms in the Residenza were more luxurious, en-suite and much nicer. We did use the shared bathrooms in the hotel when we arrived, and they were fine, but we preferred not to share a bathroom with other tourists.
we had a large, spacious triple room, with a window overlooking the street. spacious, clean and comfy, with fridge and en-suite bathroom.
the staff were very helpful, let us use the bathrooms when we arrived and our room was not ready, then were very accommodating with breakfast, extra pillow (only 1 was available though) and letting us leave luggage there on the day we left.
Easy access from Vaparetto stop, just 2 -3 mins walk from hotel. nice bar/restaurant downstairs (not part of hotel, but nice none the less).
great time had by the girls!

“Misleading website”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

The website shows pictures and describes the rooms in a misleading way. The place is awful, the shared bathrooms are nasty, the sheets are stained and smells funny, in summer the room is super hot and there is no air conditioner so you can´t sleep at night. The key is not a card is just an old key and the door has a terrible old key hole.
Bad breakfast but the service was ok though

“great location, basic place to sleep, cheap, worn out furniture, better take private facilities”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2010

I stayed here 4 nights in June 2009 with friends, we had a room with 3 beds and shared facilities for a total of 440€ (so around 37€/night/person). I think it was the Hotel with 1 star.
The woman at the reception was very unfriendly. The room had nothing glamourous, but it's okay for a summer trip with friends. Not dirty but worn out and without a table, internet, good blankets etc. Still there was a sink in the room. Breakfast's choice was poor, you have one little bread and a croissant with jam and honey or such . The tapestry and ambiance of the breakfast room was quite beautiful. There was never really queue in the shared facilities, nevertheless the problem was that if you were not one of the first in the day to use the bathrooms, there were all flooded with water from the shower and sometimes toilet paper had fell into the water etc. The good thing was the location because you could easily just walk to the hotel in the night; we had pity for our friends in the youth hostel who had to pay the same price at least for their stay and had to take the boats at night, so full of people and expensive (6,50€/ trip) too, and had stress about the security of their luggage. I think next time we will try the "Residency" part and take a private bathroom. It is not so easy to find a cheap hotel in a good location in Venice especially during the Biennale openings. I would not recommend this hotel for a romantic get away or an older couple, if you don't take a private bathroom - it's hot in summer, you need cold showers many times a day and shared facilities are not romantic at all. It's nice though that it's cheap as there's much to do and see in Venice and you don't spend much of your time inside a hotel room.
