“Very Relaxing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Hotel Villa Cipro is located on The Lido, a quick vaporetto ride from anywhere in Venice. The Lido is quite charming, showing another dimension of Venice. It is very tranquil This was my second trip to Venice and the second time I stayed on The Lido. The hotel was quite nice. The staff was friendly. Our room was perfect, with all the required amenities. The breakfast buffet was delicious.

“Fabulous accomodation and location”

We chose this hotel as we wanted to be close to Venice but also needed somewhere we could put our car. This hotel offered free car parking. Having travelled around most of Italy over many years staying in budget and not so budget hotels, I have learned not to expect too much of Italian accommodation. However, I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Hotel Villa Cipro. The hotel was located in a lovely quiet location near the main street of Lido. The reception staff were very helpful and I found the rooms lovely, clean, with great beds and all the required amenities. The breakfast was also very good with a range of food to choose from at the buffet - the breakfast ladies provided excellent service. In comparison to many other breakfasts I have had in Italy, I thought this one was very good. The hotel has a lovely personality and I was surprised that it had so few stars. We chose this location and knew it would require travelling on the vaporetto to the centre of Venice, however, it was easy and no further than it would take to travel from the mainland to some other areas in Venice. I have stayed in Canneregio before but I felt this was a better location especially to visit places like, Murano, Burano and Torcello. I loved coming back to Lido at the end of a long day in the centre of Venice as it was so much less busy and more peaceful. I have been to Venice four times and have stayed in a variety of areas and I would highly recommend staying in Lido and especially at this hotel. As to comments in the other reviews in regards to the English level of the reception staff, I felt all the staff at the hotel spoke good English. After all we were in Italy and the fact that the Italians made an effort to speak our native language – we should be very grateful, maybe we mono-lingual people need to make more of an effort to learn the languages of the countries we are visiting.

“Great location but hotel could make a few improvements”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

I stayed at this hotel with two friends for 3 nights in June. The location of the hotel is fantastic; a quiet area within easy access of the vaporetto and Lido. The staff were cordial but not over-friendly. Rooms were clean, but a little small and apart from a massively oversized light fitting, sparsely decorated. The aircon. was not particularly efficient; you need to leave it on all day whilst you are out to make it reasonably cool for when you return. Bathroom was small but functional, but the towels are made of curious thin material so take your own if you prefer the luxurious fluffy variety. Take a beach towel also or be prepared to buy one locally.
Breakfast was quite basic, with low quality pastries and unappetising ham, cheese and fruit; not a great advert for Italian cuisine. However, on the bright side you can boil your own egg which is a change from the pre-cooked rock hard ones you often find in hotels. If you would like something yummy for breakfast there are various places nearby selling great coffee and fresh, delicious pastries.
There are plenty of shops and restaurants just a stone's throw away, but we spent most of our time either in the heart of Venice or on Murano where we found great places to eat with the help of the Lonely Planet Guide Book. We did eat on the Lido on our final night and had an excellent meal with great service and a fabulous sunset view at The Viktoria Palace Hotel which is just by the Vaporetto stop 5 minuites walk from the hotel.

So to sum up; great location but staff, breakfast and and decor at Villa Cipro could all do with a small injection of joy.

“Great location and good value - for venice!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2011

I stayed in this hotel with my wife for 3 night in June 2011. The hotel is located on the island of Lido about half way between the boat stop and the beach, about 10mins walk from the boat stop. The location was excellent as it was far enough away from the main street to avoid the noise.

Lido is a great place to stay, there are plenty of places to eat (go off the main street if you're looking to avoid the turistico menu's) and it isn't as crowded as venice. There is also a supermarket which is handy for picking up snacks if your going to spend the whole day out. A10 minute boat jouney on the vaporetto takes your accross to the main island of venice and the boat comes around every 10 miutes. When you stay in Lido you will use the vaporetto a lot to get to and from the island so its worth buying a 3 day travel pass for 33 euro which gives you unlimited travel on the vaporetto network otherwise its 6 euro a journey! There is a ticket machine and ticket kiosk at the main boat stop in Lido The alliliguna service direct to the airport also stops in Lido.

The hotel was in a great location, reception staff were friendly and showed us to our room. We were on the 3rd floor and found it quiet at night, ther room was air condtioned and this worked ok but to get the room to a reasonable temperature it had to be left on for quite a while. Whilst not very big, the rooms were generally ok. It was clean and changed every day. The decor showed its age and the walls could do with being re painted, there was also a large crack down the wall in the corner of the room, the bathroom was reasonable. The standards of room in venice are not the same as you would expect for the same price in a good hotel in the UK/Ireland so expect to pay more for less.

Breakfast was included, it wasn't great and to be honest but perhaps just not to my own taste, more staff in attendance in the breakfast area to re srtock items would have been helpful.

I would stay in Lido again as I found the island a really good base to explore venice, the hotel is fine and though not the best we have stayed in it is good value.

“Good hotel”

Good hotel, traveled with 2 dogs (1 small, and 1 medium sized) had no problems at all. One of the dogs barked some while we were gone and I think it might have disturbed other guests. The hotel staff was friendly about informing me of this and we took care of the problem. Great location, the island of Lido is nice. One small note to keep in mind if you are driving you will have to take the ferry across which is 19 euro for the vehicle. Breakfast was poor however since moving to Italy I can not recall many places with good breakfast. Also the A/C is rather poor, we had to buy a fan to maintain. Reasonably priced and great staff. Highly recommend.
