We stayed at Hotel Al Vagon in the Month of July for two days. The best thing about the hotel is its staff which is very friendly. The hotel is a no-frills hotel with not a lot to call for as room-service but still the staff is helpful in terms of guiding you etc.

The location is nice being very close to the City square & Rialto bridge. The only problem is finding the hotel itself since it is hidden somewhere in the lanes.

The rooms were clean and there were enough eating places nearby including Hotel's own restaurant.

The room rates are pretty cheap and i feel we got a good value for what we paid for.

Me and my girlfriend found o Al Vagon online and the reviews on TA were great so we decided to make a reservation.

I've been to Venice before and ended up paying too much for a lousy room and I was expecting Al Vagon to be the same since I've heard it happens a lot in Venice if you are not willy to pay super high prices.

We arrived in Venice with the address and we had a little bit of difficulty to get there and had to stop to check online for a map. We thought we could walk but it is really worth taking the boat bus.

When we arrived we were surprised by the quality of the room and the cleanliness. Plus, we had a room with a window to one of the canals which was awesome!

Unfortunately we had a major discussion with the owner of the beat down dinner right by the hotel over a very stupid issue. The owner was EXTREMELY rude and wanted to kick us out and threatened us.

When the owner of the hotel heard of this, he went over to talk to the owner of the restaurant and understand why he had been such an idiot and told us that the guy is the problem in the neighborhood. He was very kind to us and helped us resolve the issue.

Other than the dinner right by the hotel, we would definitely recommend the hotel and stay there again and thank the owner once again!

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Al Vagon. Great location & very friendly staff. This was a very small room, but wasn't a big deal because we were out sightseeing all day.

The service is terrible, the manager is unbelievably rude! I've read quite a few of the reviews, and if you are like me and not bothered about a hotel, still don't book this place if you want a guaranteed room for the night, because you will not get that here, so yes we were stranded without a room. After visiting most of northern Italy, staying in various hotels along the way, we arrived at this hotel bang on check on time to be told that our room had been given away and that our card had declined authorisation, however we did not have this problem at our previous hotels, or our next hotels. I believe this very rude hotel manager was not only rude to us, because a fellow guest passed us and told us that his hotel was overpriced and not very nice – he threatened to have words with her, so in hindsight I'm glad we didn't stay around! I gathered from reading other reviews he gives away rooms, so we really should have read Trip Advisor before coming away. Also if he offers you another room, he takes you to some dodgy looking house in a back alley, my girlfriend was quite scared by this point, so we obviously made our excuses and left pretty sharpish. Unfortunately this whole experienced ruined venice for us, please don't let it happen to you. Awful.
