We booked a 3-city package through Gate1 Travel (very good to work with) that included Venice as our first stop. We were able to find the hotel easily since it is right around the corner from the train station and an easy walk from the bus depot.

As others have posted, the hotel is in a location that is ideal for tourists and reasonably (for the area) priced.

The front desk staff were all very friendly, extremely helpful, and knowledgable. We were relieved that language was not a problem - English was fluently spoken.

The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The breakfast that was provided far exceeded our expectations (I will take exception to the comment about bad coffee - it was strong and delicious!).

The only downside is that there are no elevators, but walking up the stairs helped us work off the extra calories that we consumed.

Should we return to Venice, the hotel Abbazia will be our first choice!

Really nice hotel, 5-10 min stroll from the bus station from airport, couldn't be more convenient. Vaporetto stop is within a few yards. hotel is clean, very pleasant staff, ample breakfast, rooms are good and with en suite baths. Only slight winge is that the coffee is awful, and that there is only a shower attachment over the bath with no curtain so the bathroom ends up soaked if you try a shower. The church bells start at 7.15 and are quite loud but atmospheric. Who wants to lie in in Venice anyway? Good wake up call for breakfast!

I stayed at the Hotel Abbazia for the second time in January 2012. My first stay was in March 2011 and I enjoyed the hotel so much, I wanted to stay there again.
The front desk staff is incredible - always friendly, helpful and cheerful. E-mails are always answered promptly and completely.
One of the major advantages of this hotel is the location. Mere steps from the train station and just a short walk from the bus terminus where the airport express bus stops. You will appreciate how close it is to the train station if you have a lot of luggage. The vaporetto stops are located steps away from the hotel so traveling around the city, and to the outlying islands, is convenient.
Breakfast is filling and plentiful with meats, cheeses, fresh fruits, a variety of drinks and wonderful pastries.
I had a double room for single use and it was nice to have room to spread out. Housekeeping is excellent with towels changed daily. Lots of hot water and great water pressure in the shower.
I want to thank the staff for a great 2nd stay at the Hotel Abbazia.
