My husband & 2 kids stayed there in August 2011. It was an excellent location walking 5 mi nutes to St. Mark's Square. Staff was very kind. Rooms were large & clean, plenty of room for all 4 of us. Bathroom was clean & spacious. Breakfast was delicious. We only had 1 night there after we came off of our 12 night cruise but wished that we had more and would definitely come again. The front desk arranged a private water taxi & a driver for our bags once we got there for us to go to the airport the next day which was very helpful. Loved everything about it & it exceeded my expectations.

We arrived in freezing conditions and where made fell wonderful, the staff are fantastic Angelo the bar supervisor is great looking after us. After a few disastrous meals we decided to eat at the hotel in the Oriental bar as the restaurant is closed for make over!! wow the food is the best in venice we have decided to eat here for the next 2 days as i dont think we will find better!!!! well done Metropole for fantastic service...

Just got back from Venice after 2 nights, stayed at the Metropole Hotel.

Arrived at the Hotel by private water taxi, which was immense, well worth the £90 each way.
Hotel overall is very nice, staff are very attentive & all speak good English, garden is lovely & location is fantastic. We went for a Deluxe Room, which was nice & a lot quirky, loads of antiques although very clean, the room could do with a little updated.
The only issues that I found really & let down this apparent 5 star hotel, was the bathroom, which is tiny, like a well decorated travelodge. The bath was tiny (impractical to have a bath unless you were 10 or less), the water pressure on the over the bath shower was not good (not a power shower) & basically crammed tight, even included a B -Day, which was strange in such as small room.
Also, there was no extra pillows & no tea or coffee facilities in the room, not what I would expect in a four star hotel, never mind a supposed five star.
Overall experience of this hotel was good, mainly because its in a fantastic location with great staff. However, it isnt a five star hotel by international standards in my opinion, If you accept its four star then that would be about right.

we arrived the hotel by booking a water taxi at the airport that delivered us directly to the dock. what a great way to arrive to venice. this year we spent our xmas holidays in venice for 3 nights staying at the metropole hotel. it is definitely a very unique hotel with lots of history. our family with 2 kids really enjoyed this hotel. it is definitely in a great location easy to get to everywhere and the water taxi stands are right in front of the hotel. a few minutes walk to san marco piazza. my advice when booking a hotel in venice would be location, location, location. i saw many people carrying their luggage to find their hotel somewhere more inside venice. Make sure you book a hotel that is easily accessible. we decided not to get a room facing the lagoon, and that was perfectly fine. you see the lagoon all day and we didn't miss it at all in the evening. my only complaint about this hotel is the front staff. they were not the most helpful with advice about the city. just gave me a book and said everything you want to know is in here.
