“An Absolute Gem”

We happened upon this lovely restaurant by accident on a Saturday night and could not have been more pleased with our find. A friendly welcome, a waiter who made some fabulous recommendations for food and wine and who was happy to help us in English too.
The food was nothing short of sublime. Some unusual menu options (not just pasta and pizza) and the lovely atmosphere and background music made for a great meal.
We went back a second night and were happy to be treated for a repeat performance of culinary delight!
Try it, you won't be sorry. Priced very reasonably, especially compared to New York.

“Perfetto”

This restaurant took my heart. The food was fantastic, the lobster was divine, the serves was perfect and informative, and when I found out that the paintings on the wall were discovered while renovating the decor went from a 9/10 to 11/10 in my book. I also found out this restaurant was on a canal at some point and that the original door is on the inside next to the bar now. This was a must visit when looking for a nice night out in Venice.

“Very sad evening.”

I hope that my review will not elicit a response from the management, but I will try to be kind. We made a reservation about 3 weeks before our trip to Venice. We only had 3 nights, so we wanted to make sure of our dinner choices. I went to tripadvisor, as I always do, and chose Giorgione because of mostly favorable reviews. The last week before the trip the reviews headed south... wish I had followed my heart and cancelled, but I kept it hoping the latest reviews were a fluke. They were not.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we saw the pre fixe menus outside, and only one table sitting inside. The server was standing by the door and we think he was waiting for us. I thought that we should keep walking by, which we did at first, but my guilt mechanism kicked in and we returned to find the server closing down the patio.

After a nice greeting we were seated inside at a table next to the only other party in the room. This is where all my concerns about the bad reviews I had recently read started coming true.

1. No menu was offered.

2. The server said he would put together a nice appetizer consisting of 3 items. What we
got was a large plate of all seafood. Must be the only choice they have!

3. Pasta dishes were very uneven. Delicious pasta, perfectly al dente, with great sauces
but the ingredients were so off. My supposed scallops were non existent.... there was
some kind of chewy ground up clam creature in its place. My partners seafood fettuc-
cine had nice prawns, but terrible mussels. On top of this, he had ordered the pasta
nero but the server had brought him the wrong dish.

I will say that the dining room was very nice, and the seafood plate was mostly delicious, but that was about it. We felt very uncomfortable for most of the night because of the server's attitude. He insisted there were scallops in my pasta even after I showed him there were none! I know what a scallop is. He tried to make up for the wrong pasta order by bringing a little of the pasta nero, but there was no calamari in it.

The prices were reasonable for what we had, but I do wish we had dined somewhere else. I did read some of the favorable Italian reviews, but experienced nothing remotely similar. I'm glad they enjoy it.

We were lucky to have much better dining experiences on the rest of our trip, and loved our short trip to Venice. I just can't recommend this restaurant.

“Perfect ending to our week in Venice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2011

We couldn't have chosen a better restaurant for our last meal in Venice. A quiet respite from the noise of the crowds. Exceptional service. Flavors that remain with me days later. We asked for typical Venetian cuisine and were rewarded with a variety of seafood that was mouth watering. One of the sauces served with aubergine as part of the seafood appetizer was quite one of the most delicious I have ever tasted. I wish I had words to do it justice.
The setting was perfect. Walls decorated with remnants of frescoes dating from the 1800s. An exquisite Murano glass chandelier suspended from a beamed ceiling. Even the bathrooms were beautiful.
For dessert we dunked cookies in a fragrant dessert wine, topped off with espresso.
I loved that our servers lavished us with care and attention and that they shared with us their passion for the dishes they created.
Thank you to Alessio and Maggie (sp.?) for making our last evening so magical and unforgettable.

“One Word..HORRIBLE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2011

We went to this restaurant based upon all of the good feedback that we read on Tripadvisor and were more than disappointed. When we arrived, we were shown to our table...ok so far. Then experienced the tag team wait staff, none of whom knew what they were doing or what their co-workers had already done, mass confusion. We were up-sold on the seafood appetizer platter, which was average at best. We then asked about specials and were greeted with a blank stare...so we ordered from the menu. (Come to find out there is a specials board, outside...so if you dare go here, be sure to go outside and see the specials.) The food was seved in shifts, guess the concept of the table eating together was not considered by the kitchen or servers. We complained and were shrugged off and made to feel VERY uncomfortble. I will tell anyone who mentions that they are going to Venice not to waste their hard earned money or vacation time on this place. While I think it is good that the owner responses to negative feedback, would be better if he actually did something about it. No clue how this restaurant ranked so high on the list!!
