Hotel Canal Grande lived up to its positive reviews! We just returned from spending 3 nights (February, 2012) at this beautifully appointed hotel. The location is ideal - literally within minutes walking distance from the train and bus stations - and directly on the Grand Canal in a quiet area. Hotel/rooms are decorated in classic Venetian style, very clean, and well maintained. Breakfast is well provisioned with many fresh choices and served with friendliness and efficiency. The entire staff is outstanding! Whether answering questions, recommending restaurants, or securing concert tickets, Johnny and the staff are helpful, professional, knowledgeable, and courteous! Hotel Canal Grande is completely deserving of its Travelers' Choice 2012 Winner award.

Hotel Canal Grande is a charming property with comfortable rooms.
It is located right at the Canal Grande only 5min by foot from the bus station and also the railway station. The landlady is very friendly and will do everything to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are small but very cosy. The beds are comfortable and allow a very good sleep; the area is very quiet at night. Breakfast is good, there is a variety of bred, cereals, cheese, fruits and cold cuts. Egg dishes are available at an extra charge.
Value for money could be better during high season rates.
Overall a hotel to be recommended.

From the minute we arrived to the waving goodbye as the water taxi departed, we had the best possible service. The elegant suite was amazing with a very special view of the Grande Canal. All staff were very helpful and the advise on suitable restaurants was spot on.

I chose this hotel on the basis of previous reviews and was not disappointed. Location-wise it is perfect as it is a short walk from the train or bus stations, which avoids a costly water taxi with luggage. It is also not in the busiest tourist areas - which I think is a plus, It is right on the Canal Grande on a quiet side passage. It is no more than a (very pleasant) 20 minute walk to reach the main tourist areas. The staff are super friendly and helpful and on both nights I stayed there they made dinner reservations for me in excellent restaurants (ask them about the best Pizzeria in Venice, which is just round the corner!). The room was lovely and it was amazing to wake up to the sounds of the busy canal at work. My only complaint is that there was a lot of noise coming from the adjoining room, where young children were staying.
