THis hotel looked wonderful but unfortunatly they moved us to a different hotel down the way which, unfortunatly was tiny and not very nice. my advice.... dont book here because they will screw you. we still had to pay the same price for a crappy room.

I booked this place a couple of months in advance . They emailed to find out my arrival time which I gave as 2pm. The check in is supposed to be open until 6 yet when I arrived at 3pm (we got a little lost!) ther was nobody there and the door was locked. I called the number listed and the owner came and met us.

When he arrived we were told we were being taken to another residence around the corner. It would have been nice if we had been informed of this - I like to know where I'm staying. This is why I can only give this place an average rating. I still wanted to post this review so people know that this is a possibility when they book this place.

We were taken to Residenza Ae Ostreghe which was very nice. It's half way between this place and Hotel Ala.

Regarding this location, it is closest to the Giglio vaporetti stop - not St Marks. And be careful, there are 3 St Marks's stops and you might get off at the one that is furtherest away like we did.

St Marks is a good location for sightseeing but the food is quite expensive. Restaurants were cheaper on the other side of the Rialto Bridge.

We had a positive experience at Residenza Favaro; our room was very clean and very spacious (we actually had a two floor loft). It was in a great location, just steps from St Mark's square and within walking distance to everything we wanted to see or do in Venice. Like many things in Venice, it is not especially easy to find. And this actual property is not attached to a hotel proper. It is definitely more like renting someone's apartment than staying in a hotel--there was no front desk or staff to go to for question, recommendations, etc. On the plus side, it was surprisingly quiet for being in such a busy area.

We booked in to Residenza Favaro a little while ago, and were asked to check in at the nearby Hotel Ala on arrival. When we were collected to be taken to our room and what a fantastic surprise! We entered into a doorway just metres from the Grand Canal (Giglio stop). I don't know how long the hotel will be like this, because we were put in a new property that is still being renovated before opening. According to our host, Residenza Favaro is no longer and this was going to be their new hotel.

It was clean, airy and spacious with fantastic facilities and free Wifi as well. Everything was made easy for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this hotel to all of my friends (though I can't actually remember its new name!).

Only one problem that might be encountered is that there is no lift and a few stairs to get to the rooms.
