“Okay for short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Have been here during our round trip through Italy. Stayed one night and then left by train to Rome and returned after four days. I was pleased to leave the care in the small hotelparking.
And since the train station is nearby it was easy to reach Rome, but also possible to catch a train to other cities in Italy. Good breakfast and value for money.Padua is a nice and old (university) city and not so many tourists (i June).

“Great Italian Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

We stayed four nights and enjoyed our home away from home. Hotel staff very friendly and seemed like family. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of food to start your day. Being near the train station made this hotel even more convenient to attractions. Would highly recommend this fine hotel!

Room Tip: If you are a family of four make it clear to them that you need two double beds, otherwise you'l...

“Extraordinary value at Al Cason”

My wife and I spent a total of 8 nights at Al Cason Oct./Nov., 2011. We give our strongest recommendations for staying here to easily visit both Padova and Venice. We are veteran B&B owners in U.S.(25 years), so are acquainted with most elements of small lodging hospitality. Al Cason
succeeds admirably in offering modern, clean room accommodations, a lavish breakfast spread,
evening meals at very good value. At least six members of the Salmaso family tend to the smooth operation of the hotel, once the center of a large estate of their ancestors. The character of the hotel
reflects their obvious attention to efficiency and all elements of an honest, natural hospitality. Not just an unexpected great value but an experience that will be remembered.

“Great value, handy location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We wanted a clean, nice, reasonably priced location near the train station and Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, and the Al Cason worked out very well. About an eight minute walk west of the station (also the tram stop to head downtown) and about 12 minutes from the chapel, it was very handy. Both walks are flat. Like many train stations, the immediate area outside appeared iffy at night, but not a problem near the hotel. We were there the last week of September, and the nights were balmy for al fresco dinners on the piazzas downtown. Quick cab ride back to the hotel.
The hotel itself was modern and very clean, quiet, with a very good breakfast buffet, and a pleasant, helpful staff. It is on a busy, commercial street, but we were not bothered by noise. We never even heard trains going by from the station only a couple hundred meters away.

“Lovely family-run hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at Al Cason for a romantic getaway. His parents stayed there many years before when he was doing his military service. It's a perfect place to stay because parking is free and easy (and if you've ever traveled around Italy's historic centers you know what a drag this can be,) it's clean, cheap and has a great breakfast. You will have a little walk from the city center, and the last half block is not so gorgeous, but I like having a place that's quiet where I can retreat to after an exciting and tiring day of tourism. it's family-run, which means they really care about service. For example, someone had smoked in the room we were originally given. When we complained, they changed it right away. When we wanted to see la Capella dei Scrovegni, they called to see if they were open before selling us the day card, when I brought my purse with me by mistake, the receptionist offered to take it up to my room! Padua is an amazing city and this is a great place to stay. We stayed for a two days and definitely didn't get to see everything. And remember: if you can't find a room in Venice, Padua is only 40 minutes away by train...
