Driving north from Tuscany to Austria and having reached our tiredness limit at Merano we found the Hotel Bellevue.

It seems to be stuck in a time warp and is more German than Italian, but that can be said for the whole town.
The hotel was once grand and is still in good location, about 5 minutes walk from the restaurants and shops. The rooms are very large with comfortable beds and a large bathroom with nice bath and shower. Lying there all I could think of was it it ripe for development into 1 or 2 bed apartments. 1 room with bath could convert to a spacious 1 bed apartment.
Breakfast was OK but I think we were the only guests in a 76 room hotel. Sad old grand hotel but clean and comfortable.
