We stayed at the Windsor at the beginning of July and was greeted by such a warm welcome from Klaus. He was so helpful about what there was to do in and around Meran. we were also fortunate that he was one of the few hoteliers who had signed up the give the Merano plus card free to all his guests. This gave us free transport in the region and entrance to museums; a massive saving on the chai lifts as well that took us up to the hills for our daily walks. The rooms are modern and well fitted, I recommend upgrading to a superior room as you get a lot more space. The loaction is superb just 5 mins stroll along the river to town where all the really nice bars and restaurants are. Its also justa 5 minute walk the other way to the bus and train station to get around. The breakfast is perfectly adequate offering a good choice of everything you could want from a cold buffet. We were lucky enough to eat outside in the garden by the pool as the weather was warm. There is a nice atmosphere in the bar in the evenings and he'll even rustle up a snack at night if you've had a good lunch and don't need a full meal at night. Truly a find of a hotel, and we'll be coming back to.
