There is a first time for everything, and this happened to be the 1st recommended place on TripAdvisor that greatly disappointed us. True: Petra is helpful with many ideas for things to do in the region and the location at the edge of Alpe di Siusi is lovely. However, this B&B is truly overrated. The house and our room was very clean, but after a 2 night stay the flaws were uncomfortably evident. The mattresses were terrible, and should be changed out immediately (which we informed Petra upon our departure). Additionally the down comforters and pillows should also be replaced. Barely any water came out of the shower head due to calcification buildup. Without exaggerating, the towels were incredibly rough, perfect for exfoliation. The recommended restaurants in Castelrotto were tourist traps (Saalstuben and the Pizzeria). Then I thought the breakfast would be stellar based on other reviews. She offers the usual cheap, grocery store fare - this region is particularly known for very delicious meat and cheese, none of which she serves. Cheap juice, milk, decaf coffee, bread, and marmalade - it is all in the taste. It should also be noted that Petra does not prepare to have any special bakery or bread for Sundays when the town bakery is closed. This was so disappointing. We even received our same dirty cloth napkin, with a noticeable amount of Nutella on it, from the previous morning. This was the first time I have traveled away for a weekend, and was looking forward to returning to the comforts of my own home. All of the positive reviews have everything to do with the region, and that these people can look past the necessities of a comfortable bed and breakfast.
