“very cosy and clean. good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

We really our enjoyed stay at the hotel: the room was clean and pleasant - simple but we had everything we needed. We had good Italian breakfast: with excellent capuccino and croissants. The staff was friendly. We chose the hotel for 2 reasons: location near the reailway station (since the bus from Bergamo airport arrived very late and the subway did not work any more). The second reason was that Sara hotel had an adapted room. However, there was a slight miscommunication: when we arrived at the hotel, we were shown to our room (not adapted) and asked if it was ok. It was not mentioned that adapted room was not available for that first night. When we left the hotel we found out that we could have had an adapted room for the other nights. In any case, we would recommend this hotel and we would be happy to stay at Sara hotel again.

“Not bad, but check other options first...!”

Simple, but cosy and quiet hotel, located relatively far from the city centre, however transport connection is very good: metro station Loreto is about 5-6 min. And you will get to the Dome square (Red line, station Duomo) in 10 min train ride. One of the largest shopping streets Corso Buenos Aires is also in 6-7 min walking distance. Although the hotel's breakfast is very symbolic, you may find very good dining options around Loreto square, which is nearby and thanks to remote location the prices will not "eat up" your budget. Central Train Station is about 25 min by walking, while taxi will cost you ca. 12-13EUR . Rooms and amenities were clean and well maintained. Security protected wireless internet is available and it was free, at least in our case (?!), just ask on the reception. Personnel was very kind and helpful, they have a free city map available now :)).

Breakfast is very simple, but enough to start the day. Seems that rooms have no heating and sometimes it might be really cold, especially at night, but they do not have blankets... If you come by car or rent it locally I'm afraid that you will experience the parking problem for sure.

Conclusively, really not bad! however next time I would try something else in Milan for the same price level...despite the hotel is more or less normal the price asked (even through booking.com) makes the value for money ratio very low, unfortunately.

“Wouldn't come back.”

The location of the hotel is quite good, right next to the metro station. And the rooms are spacious. Internet connection is not free, but works properly. However, there is a number of things which should be mentioned:

- poor breakfast (get up early, otherwise you wouldn't get anything but coffee)
- from time to time air-conditioner doesn't work (which is crucial during the summer time)
- stuff doesn't really speak english, happens quite often also that doesn't have city maps. so, without english-speaking stuff and without maps and without free internet connection it makes a journey challenging.

“Avoid it at all cost!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2007

The hotel was hard to find as the map provided didnt do justice and was in a shady part of the city. When we finally checked in, we discovered that although the rooms had ac, it's automated and will only turn on when the outside temperature reaches 30C! The room was very stuffy as it was in July and we couldnt open the windows since we were facing the street and wouldnt be able to sleep with the noise and mosquitoes. I tried to resolve the situation by asking for a fan, but the man at the reception said it wasnt hot and wasnt any of his problem. I checked out then and there and found a nicer place nearby with individual ac for only 10 euros more.

“Avoid rooms 1 - 4 in the Hotel Sara”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2006

We booked this hotel on the interner, having read a strong recommendation for it in Let's Go. We were allocated Room 4, which is on the ground floor, just around the corner from Reception. The room was a good size with a spacious bathroom, well appointed and no sign of noise from the street. It had a high ceiling which made it echo somewhat.

Everyone was very friendly, although no English was spoken and Reception had no idea of what room rate we had been quoted. We had to tell them.

On our return at about 10 pm, we met the night reception, who spoke quite good English and had a long conversation with us about football. Fine, except every other resident who came back to the hotel until well after midnight he also had a very loud conversation with. Added to which the night bell was electronic and played the chimes of Big Ben !!!! The noise and echo factor was horrendous. We even rang reception at 1.30 am to ask him to cut down the noise level. We were unable to get to sleep until at least 3.30 am, and that was after he had laid up breakfast loudly, screeching chairs across the floor etc.

Breakfast was fine, but by then we were exhausted, having been awake nearly all night.
It was a good hotel and very clean, and hopefully is far less noisy on the floors above.
If you want a night's sleep DO NOT ACCEPT A ROOM ON THE GROUND FLOOR.
