“Clean, simple, good value, some things you need to be aware of.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Two nights, October 2011, mature couple. Yes, its immaculate, rooms bed and en suite large, quiet (but for rain on and a bit of light through a fixed skylight with no blind). The place is certainly comfortable, welcoming and very good value. But you need to know and be prepared for a couple of downsides.
There are no 'hotel' facilities, no public rooms. The website photo of two chairs is not indicative of anything but the two chairs you see outside, on the public landing, slightly misleading! The 2Euro breakfast is a coffee and sweet biscuit at the nearby restaurant (Vasco, the steak house much praised on Trip Advisor). Our view was business car parks.
If you're there like us for tourism, Its too far for walking to the historic centre (best part of 2 miles), even too far for walking if you arrive by train (best part of 1 mile). The arterial road is unpleasant, but the hotel is away from it in a courtyard. Half hourly buses stop at 2000 generally, last one in to town 1940, you need to know where to change. Taxi from station 7Euros, from town (radio taxi has to be called) 12, slightly offsetting the good room price. Buses needed a prepaid ticket (about 1Euro), good for 60 minutes riding (information hard to find in advance, and receptionist steered us wrong and out us at risk by telling us we could get it on the bus - you can't.
Interested to hear about nearby restaurant discounts offered. We were only offered one in town, but did (fed up with the transport problem!) nervously try the unknown (to us), not very inviting from the street, La Bruschetta on the main road two hundred yards towards town and found the food fantastic, style slightly upmarket, service friendly and helpful.
In sum, very fair decent place to sleep. We wouldn't use it again because of the distance and limited transport to what we were in Mantua to do, but recommended for anyone not bothered by that.

“Can't Be Beat for a Short Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

My family and I spent one night at the Meuble Abatjour and we were happy with the stay. The rooms are large for Italian standards and immaculately clean. Parking is free in the parking lot just outside the hotel. We didn't have any problems finding the hotel by just plugging the address on our GPS. The hotel has a continual relationship with a couple of local restaurants which allow guests to get discounted meals. We took advantage of that and ate at a restaurant a couple of blocks away that was very good and reasonable in price. Another great thing about the hotel is the young man who runs the reception. I didn't catch his name but he and his family were very pleasant and gave us good info regarding the area. The only two negatives about the hotel are its location, since its relatively far from the historical center, and the lack of breakfast offerings, which we kind of expect whenever we stay in any hotel. All in all, we would definitely stay here again and recommend it for any one spending time in Mantova.

“Ideal as an overnight stop, excellent value.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

A little difficult to find in a courtyard setting off the Via Cremona just outside the city attractions. The bar on the main road didn't look very attractive and the entrance is an unassuming single glass door. First impressions were of a slightly upmarket Travelodge but the room was exceptional. Spacious well designed IKEA type furniture, everything worked. We had portholes for windows and excellent quiet air conditioning.

“Lovely people - fantastic value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

This is an ideal place to stay if you are wanting value for money. The people running it couldn't have been more helpful and friendly suggesting places for breakfast or dinner etc. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I will certainly go back there . Mantua is beautiful in itself, but also makes a really good base for visiting other cities because, although it has tourists, it's not swamped with them .
