I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in November, with my husband.
Style: this is a family run hotel, not very attractive from the outside however very comfortable inside. The hall is pleasant with armchairs and newspaper at your disposal, in case you have to wait before leaving.
Location: just in front of the train station. The area is safe and quite: Mantova is a very nice little town, and the train station is not surrounded by strange people, as usually in larger towns. The best location if you have a car, because downtown is mostly forbidden to cars. However you can reach it by a 10 mins walking from the hotel.
Rooms: The rooms are very spacious: the furniture is modest but comfortable, with a large wardrobe, a table, and two chairs. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning during summer and heaters in the winter. There are no carpets on the floor, and the hotel is very clean. The bathroom is not very big, but it has a large shower.
Food: very good for Italian tastes: choice of croissants, fruit jam, nut cream, corn flakes and yogurt, however they do not offer sausages, eggs, bacon, etc. so Germans and Britons may be disappointed. Staff: The hotel has been run by the same family since 40 years. The staff is at your disposal for every kind of advice: restaurant, excursions, where to buy gifts, etc.
The good: everything is made to make you feel comfortable
The bad: thin walls. If you have noisy neighbours it may be a bit hard.
Price: € 85 double room, included breakfast. This price is applies for longer staying.
