This hotel is a bit of a dive. Our room stank very badly. It was obvious that there was something wrong with the plumbing because there was a plug in the drain of the sink and the shower, and the room stank to high-heaven. The grout within the tiles in the bathroom was either cracked, or missing all-together, and there was a hint of mildew. The bathroom was tiny, and the fixtures are easily 30 years old. We told the staff about the smell, and their excuse was to blame it on the "terme", whatever that means. It has something to do with public works. It was so bad that we had to sleep with our window open, and keep the bathroom door shut in order to be able to live with the smell at all. My wife and I refused to shower in the bathroom due to the fact that ours smelled so bad, and was so old and nasty that we didn't want to touch anything for fear of contracting a communicable disease.
Today we checked out, and it turned out to be a summation of the whole establishment. I utilized the lobby bathroom, and the toilet would not flush properly, and the flushing actuator was broken. This is the first customers see, and to have it in this poor condition says a lot, as does the dilapidated sign in the front of the hotel. The letters are peeling off, and it is oxidized so badly that the black background is nearly white. Also, the elevator is broken, and it appears as though it has been for a very long time.
For breakfast, you can count on one thing, ham and swiss cheese! We stayed 4 nights, and this was the standard.
I am not a picky person. I just returned from a one year combat tour in war-torn Afghanistan, and stayed in many places there that were better than the Abacus in Sirmione, Garda, Italy.
Lastly, the self labeled 3-star rating is bogus. I would give them 1.5, tops!
In all, I highly discourage you from staying at this establishment for I believe that your hard earned currency would be much better appreciated elsewhere.
