“Modern, clean and close to the station.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2010

We were impressed by the hotel. Very modern and clean . It was very close to the train station (important to us). It's not close the main attraction (the old city), but there didn't seem to be any modern hotels up there. Again, the fact we got off the train and walked 2 blocks was very important. We had a great view from the room. We had a spacious room (# 417) with a big bathroom. Breakfast was very good too.

“Perfect Location, Great value for money - Stunning BERGAMO”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2010

This hotel is located about 300 yards from the train and bus station which is ideal. It is also located on the main drag through Bergamo which is also very useful. We were aloud to check in at 10:30am which helped a lot. It is quite a modern hotel with very spacious rooms and bathroom and everything is clean. There is a small spar supermarket next door which helps as the mini bar prices are expensive. Just a small note for the "VOX" bar next to the hotel. This is a very modern bar but do not be put off by this. The food is great and authentic and the beer and wine were spot on. One real moan about the Mercure though "THE PILLOWS". Shocking would be an understatement. The most uncomfortable i have ever experienced.

Great location, easy walking distance of train station and close to some good shops and eating places. Buses for old town really handy also.

“good quality hotel, great location”

Got some late cheap flights from Bristol to Bergamo for a surprise trip for my Wife and I (£60 for 2x return flights with Ryan Air) and then set about finding a hotel for the long weekend on tripadvisor. At the time, the Mercure showed up as number 1 hotel and the Best Western as number 2... due to their being only particial availability for both hotels for the three nights required, i was able to test both (2 nights Mecure and one night Best Western).
the Mecure was a good quality hotel, as i have found with the brand in the past. staff were very friendly and the location is ideal- close to station, buses and funicular). bedroom was comfortable and spacious, although a slightly strange shape (with low ceilings in places- top floor roof beams) and a very odd colour (very strange blue). only average value at around £100 a night and it could of done tea/coffee making facilities. you won't go wrong with this good hotel, although i prefered the Best Western, were i got a better deal and an upgrade (although staff wern't as nice).
