Despite slightly misleading directions from the local tourist office we found I Ghiri and it was worth the wait. I was a bit worried having to go round the back of the house and step over the dog to go upstairs to our floor! But once we saw the room we were absolutely delighted. It was a big room with a balcony, and everything was very fresh and clean. The bathroom was literally a step across the corridor. Christina is really lovely and so is her husband and family. The b and b is just a very short stroll from the old town of Bergamot and also handy for a short hike up to the castle with its amazing views. (Or you can take the funicular railway.) The breakfast at I Ghiri is delicious - with lovely fresh fruit and croissants, local cheese, etc. We booked in for one night, but we loved the b and b and Bergamot so much we decided to stay an extra night.

Altough its allmost a year ago we often think back at the kindness,conversation in Italian with Cristina the very good breakfasts and the beautifull and very clean rooms,if you want to experience real warm Italian hospitality I Ghiri is the place to go.

Bergamo is a beautiful town and well worth a visit from more Americans. If you would like a personal touch during your trip, stay with Cristina at her B&B i Ghiri. She has info and guidebooks on everything in the surrounding area, and the surroundings are beautiful, peaceful and green. Cristina will make you breakfast in the morning and set you off onto any adventure you like!
