“What a soulless place to stay.”

We stayed here because their website said it was only a few hundred metres from the airport. It is - but across a dual carriageway that you can't access or cross safely. It's at least a kilometre walk from the airport along a scary path that suddenly stops across the road from the hotel and you have to negotiate the multiple entrance to the carpark and access road for the hotel. It was dreadful. The room itself was adequate but HUGELY expensive compared to other comparable hotels. This was the ONLY hotel I have ever stayed in that hasn't had a kettle and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. The restaurant offered basic food for fancy restaurant prices, we didn't eat there so I can't comment on the service. However, I can comment on the 'early risers' breakfast which was the most abysmal load of processed pastries that I've ever had the misfortune to be offered. The discarded wrappers and half eaten food was left in the serving area along with dirty used crockery. It was truly awful and completely unacceptable for an hotel of this cost. The pillows were uncomfortable and the bedding felt as if it had been washed in fabric softener without being properly rinsed. And all for 90e per night. We stayed there because they promised us it was within walking distance of the airport. However, the access was so dangerous we ordered a taxi which, because of the one way system from the hotel to the airport, cost us 15e to travel somewhere which was literally 100 metres away. Dreadful. The worst beige corporate hotel I have ever stayed in.

“What a great Hotel & Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

My Wife and I have just got back from spending New Year in Bergamo.

I must say it really has been a great little holiday. Due to the efficiency of bus from the airport and a little preplanning, we were drinking a carafe of wine in Ristorante La Ciotola and ordering our dinner inside 50 minutes of landing, having already deposited our bags in the hotel.

The NH Bergamo was really excellent and the staff could not have done more for us really. They have lots of photocopied maps freely available at the front desk and will point out restaurants, attractions etc. They really couldn’t do enough so don’t be afraid to ask them questions. Free Wifi was also available in the lobby

Breakfast was a buffet system and fairly substantial. No complaints here at all.

There is a Spar supermarket next door for bottles of drinks, snacks etc.

If I was going to be super picky and point out one thing that I would like to see improved is the number of English language channels in the room – but then again who on earth goes to somewhere like Bergamo to watch the TV?

On the first day we wandered around the new town and then took the cog railway up to the old town (approx 2 euros pp for a day ticket). We then took the second cog railway up to the very top. There is a restaurant at the top with what seemed like the most stunning views and the prices didn’t seem too expensive either. If only we had been hungry at this time I think it could have been the highlight of our trip. If anyone goes, let me know, I would love to know what it was like.

We also took a day trip to Milan from the train station (10 euros return pp) and enjoyed that as it is only about 45 minutes away. We then jumped on the metro and were at the Duomo in minutes. The city is a lovely place for a walk around and can easily be done from Bergamo.

Take the number 1 (usually marked Airport bus) ATB bus from outside the Airport and it will take you to Bergamo Rail Station in about 10 minutes – 2 euros per person. From here it is only about 3 or 4 minute walk to the hotel. You can use google street view to establish exactly where you need to go, but it only involves taking one real turning. On the way back to the Airport make sure you get the number 1 bus and not the 1C, because this will take you into the old town first of all.

We knew about Bergamo years ago and should have gone sooner. Hope you have as good a time as we did – you wont regret it.

“Very modern hotel with few downsides”

I really liked this hotel a lot. The staff seemed very friendly. Room was sort of small but was spotless and everything in there seemed brand new. As I read in another room they still have an older crt TV. Water pressure in the bathroom was excellent, only downside was they only have one of those half shower doors that seem popular in Europe for some reason. That makes it look very modern but really doesn't function very well and you get half of the bathroom wet when taking a shower. Breakfast was very good with some hot items and the hotel is located right next door to a grocery store.

Only real complaint I have is that the internet costs 11 dollars a day here while most of the other competitors in the area (Arli, Best Western, San Marco) have free internet. The people in the lobby will give you a 30 minute pass for free and that was extremely slow. If you are here on business and internet is very important to you I would probably go with the Best Western

“Great Hotel with plenty of offers”

I liked the hote! It gives a feeling of peace and relaxation starting from the time you enter through the reception. The reception is helpful with a good smile and just to let you know, its better to find the receptionist's language ability (engraved on his name tag), you never know he/she might be talking to you in your language. The rooms are perfect. Due to my business I happen to travel a lot and stay 100+ days a year in different hotels in different countries. In any one of NH, I failed to find a flaw.

Room Tip: All rooms are good so its hard for me to suggest :)

“An ideal base close to all transport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

We recently stayed at the Jolly Hotel (now NH Bergamo). We were delighted with the warm welcome from Marco at reception, who attended to all our needs on arrival and throughout our stay.
The hotel was comfortable and the breakfast was self service but as substantial as you wanted it to be. The orange juice was freshly squeezed which always pleases. The staff were very attentive. The location of the hotel was ideal, being very close to the railway and bus stations, and just a short walk from the Funicular train, which takes you to the Citta Alta.
Marco, at our request, booked a table for an evening meal for us in a restaurant in the Citta Alta and arranged a taxi to take us there.
All in all our holiday was enhanced by the attentive service of the staff and the central location of the hotel.
