For us it was not a pleasant experience ... but this hotel was the only one that we could find at 2 am, after a terrible experience (somenone cut us 2 tires). We were so happy for finding a hotel (the others that we found were full), that we didn't ask to see a room before we check in ....big mistake. We payed and the receptionist lead us to our room. We thought we'll stay in the hotel, and that one looked nice, but no, he took us in the annex.
When we enterred that builduing ....it was so smelly, our room the same. It was a very small room, with a small batroom. The shower was rusted, it was ugly. The sheets were clean, they came to clean the room in the morning, but it was an ugly room. We were sorry for staying there, mostly after seeing the Menton with his beautiful building. The room was ugly, the surroundings were ugly, ugly buildings. And for the price we've payed here at the Seagull, we've stayed a week earlier right in the center of Rijeka (Croatia) at a four stars hotel (indeed a four stars hotel).
We chose Ventimiglia to stay for visiting Monte Carlo and Cannes, but unfortunately we were not very well informed (we've made a little tour and we haven't thought about visiting Monte Carlo and Cannes from the begining). We payed at the Seagull 120-125E/ night, we could stay in Cannes at Etap Hotel (Accor Hotels) with ~56E/ night in better conditions or in the Iris Hotel (also Accor Hotels) for ~90E/ night in great conditions (we didn't stay in these hotels, but my sister did and she is much more exigent than me). I wrote about these hotels for that ones who are thinking to visit Cote d'Azur and to stay in Ventimiglia, don't make the same mistake we did.
