Firstly let me preface by saying that the location and views from this hotel are superb, and the staff at the "American Bar" on the ground floor are brilliant.
That said:
The rooms at the Lido Palace run from the front of the hotel to the back of the hotel, so every room gets a view. The interiors are tired with questionable taste in artwork. If you can't manage stairs, you couldn't stay here as each room is accessed via a stairway.
The beds were short (for a tall person) and sloped towards the floor making any movement feel perilous. The bedroom was very poorly sound proofed meaning you can hear footsteps, voices and water movement whenever anyone in the adjoining rooms uses their bathroom.
On the subject of bathrooms, whoever designed the bathrooms at the Lido Palace clearly has never used one. Firstly, in the shower over bath, the shower head was located in the middle of the bath on the long side meaning there was no way to have a shower without either flooding the bathroom or getting far too cosy with the mouldy shower curtain. The toilet was so close to the wall that you had to be a contortionist to use it with any ease, or risk getting the toilet roll holder embedded in your side. The toilet broke down three times, flooding the bathroom on two occasions. Both times assistance was rendered quickly from the receptions staff, however we were advised that a plumber would only be called out if the flooding occurred three times.
A positive aspect of the room, aside from the view, included free WiFi internet access.
Our stay included a continental breakfast which was pleasant with a variety of choices.
A word of advice, if you're staying in your room during the day, place the do not disturb sign on the door to prevent the cleaning staff from walking into your room unannounced.
