“You get what you pay for...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2010

I and my friend stayed in this hotel over rainy October weekend. It is very close to the railway station. At nigh this busy area becomes empty and one needs to walk about 15-20 minutes to the center of the town. Though the room was clean and the staff was friendly, it was probably the most ran down hotel I've ever been to. WiFi is accessible only in the lobby. Considering the cheap price, it may be an option for budget traveler, but next time I will be looking for something else.

“Great Value and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

Loved that it was so close to the main train station...no difficulty finding it. No frills, but very clean. Reception is on the 2nd floor. They have a lift but it seems to start on the 2nd floor, not the first. I thought the staff was quite friendly and accommodating. The night clerk gave me a super large room with high ceilings and queen sized bed. Nice sized bathroom, but shower needed some light...showered in the dark. Breakfast was good with a variety of cereals, juices, and croissants. The day clerk was also very helpful, phoning the airlines for me due to my delayed luggage. Free internet and wi-fi. Restaurant across the street was quite good.

“Don't stay here”

Don't stay here. This hotel was recommended in a travel article about Genoa in the San Francisco Chronicle in January 2004. It was clean and convenient to the train station but that was where the good news ends. It is on the 3rd and 4th floor of an office bldg. which we knew already and would be fine but they had changed the reception area from the 3rd to the 4th floor but did not make any note of this in the lobby so after schlepping bags to the wrong floor someone finally came and found us and so it all began--the first room was very small, dark and had 2 twin beds for us--a married couple. The second room was fine--large and clean. But the air conditioning never worked and it was very hot in June and the direct dial phones did not accept any phone cards so we had to use at cell phones to make calls. We were there for 7 days so the cost added up. Obviously we could have moved but we both had gotten a stomach flu and the thought of moving seemed unappealing. The main desk clerk was nice but totally unorganized and the owner whom we saw one time was unfrienly to the point of being rude--we had a hard time figuring out her agenda. Our meeting with her was when we arrrived before we had any complaints etc. Price was good 100 euros including breakfast (minimal and slow), the cleanlines was fine--the chamber maids were the only highpoint people wise--but I would never stay there again and would definitely not recommend it. Also the area around the railroad station is a little dicey--many of the hotels are around there and we encountered no problems but it doesn't have a great feeling about it and none of the restaurants are in the area--they are all about a 10 or 15 minute walk away--definitely easy enough but it surprised us that there weren't more restaurants nearby due to the number of hotels.
