Four of us, 2 couples, stayed here in Oct. 2011. Actually we checked out the day they were closing for the season. Ideally located, scrumptious breakfast & very friendly & helpful staff. Got to know Damien & Lina, night staff quite well & they were always very friendly & helpful with hints of where to eat etc.We really enjoyed our stay here & would recommend Hotel Palme to family &/or friends visiting this incredibly beautiful part of Italy. Bella Cinque Terre!!

We chose Hotel Palme because it had parking available and we felt was in a good location to access the other towns. We enjoyed the short walk to the train station and old town. We drove there from Tuscany, so the roads were a bit of a challenge, but once we got there we didn't need our car. We took the boat and/or train to the other towns and walked some of the trails. The hotel is a bit dated but very clean; and while our room was somewhat small, we did have a terrace which was great.

We spent three days at Hotel Palme and would have enjoyed the hotel more if the staff had been friendlier. It wasn't until the morning we were leaving that the receptionist actually smiled and said she hoped our stay had been a good one. If only she had been as nice when we first arrived. Our room and the hotel itself were quite good and the breakfast was good however their rules put you off.

Hotel was well located if you arrive by train, like the beach, and like a quiet spot.

Only a 5 min level walk from the train station along the waterfront, the hotel is situated a short distance up a side street near the end of the "new" town.

The room was small and basic, but appeared to have been recently partially renovated. We had some views of the garden and sea glimpses from our room which was on the top floor on the street side of the hotel. The hotel has, for the area, a large garden, a pleasant lounge area, and a nice bar for relaxation. The last 2 would be good if you experienced bad weather, but appeared to be little used during our 3 night stay of beautiful weather. These features probably help them get a 4 star rating.

Some nice restaurants are within a short walk, including several inexpensive ones on the waterfront.

The staff were polite and not unfriendly, but lacked the warmth shown in many other hotels, with the exception of the breakfast staff who always gave a warm welcome. There were a number of signs in the hotel such as reminding people not to remove food from the breakfast room which added to this tone.

A reasonable place to stay, but we did not feel like we were staying in a good 4 star hotel; more like 3.5 star hotel
