“An Ok hotel and a good base”

First of all, don't expect the earth from this hotel. It's Ok, but nothing special. However you would be wrong to expect anything else. It is only 40 Euro for a single room after all. Breakfast (served from 7-11) was plentiful, though the coffee/cappuccino came from a machine. A few cereals, fruit, yoghurt, bread, cake-the standard Italian breakfast. Service was good. with bag storage on the final day at no charge. TV channels available are Italian only. New towels and soap/shampoo every day.

If you are a light sleeper, noise from the Piazza may be a problem, however you should remember that this is a party town!

However if I were staying for a week or so of partying in Rimini, I would have chosen somewhere a bit closer to the beach, because it is a good 15 minutes walk to the sea front, and 10 minutes to the town centre(in the opposite direction). However, if you are planning day trips from Rimini, it is ideal. The bus stop for San Marino (and the Airport) is only 50m from the Hotel, and the train station is just across the street (Ravenna is recommended).

“Very good hotel would recommend it.”

We arrived at Rimini airport at 9pm and took a Taxi (cost 22 Euro) to the hotel. We found it to be in a great location only ten minutes walk to the beach and five minutes from the centre of the old town. It was abit noisy on our first two nights because the city was having a festival similar to our bank holiday weekends in the U.K..
On our first full day we found the free beach, which was good but because it was so hot we decided to hire loungers and an umbrella to shade us from the sun abit. (The cost was 18 Euro per day.) This proved to be money well spent because , being fair skinned, we would have burnt to a crisp if we had not had this protection from the sun.
What a great surprise it was when we went into the sea for the first time - it was warm! We finished up spending hours swimming and generally having a great time. We actually saw fish swimming around us too!
We had no problem at all with eating. The breakfast at the hotel was lovely, lots of everything to eat. We also found a great little Trattoria Pizzeria called da La Gisa which served up amazing fish dishes along with Italian Pastas and Pizzas. I have never seen so much fruit in my life and, being a big fruit eater, i certainly had my share. Italian icecream is also to die for! The prize of meals and fruit also certainly did not break the bank!
On the whole we found the Italian people to be great. We wanted to practice our Italian but they wanted to talk to us in English whenever they could. It was like both of us helping eachother out.

“Excellent location, very good breakfast, ideal for a family with kids”

This hotel is situated in a very comfortable location, just opposite the train station and besides the tourist information and buses to anywhere in Rimini, Riccione, Ravenna, and San Marino. Its room are clean, nothing poshy, has a 21 inch tv and airconditioning. The bathroom is ok except that when you shower, the water falls on the floor since it has no shower tray. But on the whole, if you do not like lots of frills, for the average traveller, this hotel is really good for you as it situated in a perfect location. Next to the hotel there is Burger King as well. The breakfast in this hotel is excellent, they have a variety of coffees, jiuces, cornflakes, croissants and cakes. The hotel also has a lift. I was on the 2nd floor in room 22. I cannot complain about the staff because they helped me out when I needed them, I think this is a family run business. It needs some small maintenance but on the whole it is worth staying there and very good value for money. I was charged Eur 70 per night for two people and 1 child of 4 years. I stayed in this hotel for 9 days and I cannot complain for anything really. It is mostly ideal for families with kids and teenagers who like to go to teen parks etc. From this hotel you can also walk for about 10 minutes and go to the beach the first beach is free for all. You can also walk to central rimini and see the Tiberius bridge and the Arch of Augustus. On Wednesday and Saturday there is the market in the city centre. There are also more than 4 parks you can go to namely, Mirabilandia, Fiabilandia, Oltremar and Italia in Miniatura and Aquafun. We enjoyed all of them except Aquafun and all of them give you the second day free. The sea in Rimini is not very nice when compared to Malta,s sea.It is not clean, but the beach is wonderfull and there are many sea shells on the shore. Any way it is a very nice location for a holiday with your family.

“Best deal in Rimini”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2008

I have spent 4 nights at Hotel Moderno with 2 friends in July 2008. Sharing one triple room, we paid 20 EUR per person per night, which is probably the cheapest rate in town.

I will write 2 versions, one short review and a more elaborate one.

Short review

The hotel is well located in the center of the city, provides all the required comfort, the rooms are clean, there is air conditioning, and... the rates are very low. A very good deal.

Long review

Thanks to its central location, just in front of the Rimini train station, both the beach and the old city center are within walking distances (both about 600 metres). Unlike in other cities, the station area is safe and pleasant to walk by.

The rooms are not huge but well maintained and very clean. Each room has the latest air conditioning system. The sheets are changed everyday, as you would expect. The hotel provides shower gel, soap and clean plastic cups (wrapped in a plastic bag).

There is a small cafetaria where you can buy drinks 24 hours per day. The breakfast, which is served in this cafetaria, is not exceptional but provides everything that is expected for a continental breakfast.

The hotel staff is helpful and will assist you if you have any questions, which restaurant to go to, etc. Staff is present 24 hours a day.

If you go by car, it is good to know that there is a small private parking in front of the hotel for 8 cars. Since most people arrive by public transportation, we had no difficulty using the private parking place every day.

The hotel does not have its own private beach. But you will have no difficulty finding a beach that suits you (there are 130 private beaches) for around 7 EUR per person and per day.

I don't know the rates for a single room or a double room, but our triple room was very cheap as mentioned above and the other rooms are probably very cheap as well. The main reason for this low price is because the hotel is not in the immediate vicinity of the beach.

If you are looking for luxury, you should not go to this hotel. But if you just need a comfortable and pleasant place to stay at, this hotel is a very good deal. If we go back to Rimini, we will definitely go back to Hotel Moderno.
