“Four star on the inside. No star on the outside.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

This hotel was rated a four star, and the online photos bore that out. However, when we drove up to the hotel, our spirits dropped dramatically. The entrance and the grounds of the hotel were not well maintained at all. Weeds, cigarette butts, bits of trash everywhere. I was considering canceling, and paying the cancellation charge. We went into the hotel and found a pretty decent 3 star place. Staff was nice and accomodating.
It was a warm day, and our group wanted to use the pool. Upon entering the pool area, we were again very surprised by the lack of attention to the grounds. The lawn was dying in spots, needed mowing and trimming. The bushes were all overgrown and needed pruning. The flower beds were full of leaves and debris. The pool itself was nice, but the grounds were embarrasingly unkempt.
The rooms were nice and clean and the bathrooms likewise.
I complained to the management about the care of the grounds, and the manager claimed that it was a money problem. However, I felt that the worst of the problems could have been solved fairly cheaply and easily. No excuse for the grounds being so poorly maintained.

Restaurant was nice, but way overpriced, and menu was limited. We went to a nearby family restaurant and had a fine dinner.

“not in town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2009

we stayed here thinking it was in the city but it wasnt. We had a car so that was fine & such a big hotel would not fit into the charecter of the main city. The hotel is more of a business style hotel & some of the staff wernt as helpful as they probably should be to tourists that have no idea about the ares. Hotel was clean.

“Great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2009

For my usual "end-of-the-year short trip" I decided for Parma, I've never been there before.
It has to be said the town is really lovely and a must-see (and superb food, of course); arriving by car I chose this hotel, outside the centre, taking a look at the reviews here, as usual, and the choosing was really a lucky one.
Having a car, a few minutes drive will bring you into the heart of the town. The hotel is placed in the middle of the countryside, no factories or industrial sites nearby (which you could find in other suburbs).
The room and the bed were both larger then I could expect. Breakfast above average, warm and helpful welcome, courtesy much above average.
The room and the bathroom all very clean. AC working great, you just set your best temperature and there's even almost no noise.
I just can't tell you about the restaurant because I always ate otside the hotel...

I really think that, having a car, this could be the best place to enjoy Parma.

“Nice hotel but miles from anywhere!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2008

This is a nice 4 * hotel. A slight problem at check in when we had booked for a superior room with Jacuzzi - they tried to fob us off with an ordinary room, but we complained and it was sorted immediately.

The hotel is nicely furnished, has a nice restaurant and pool but is essentially a business hotel. It is 8 km to Parma and when we stayed, there was no public transport available to take us into town. The staff are friendly and speak good English - overall a nice stay and end to our holiday.

“absolutely no reason to stay here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2007

I stayed here for a business meeting- it is not a place i would have voluntarily booked myself nor can I recommend anybody to do so. The hotel is 10km outside of the city center- a 20min taxi ride away. Not convenient if you want to see anything that Parma has to offer.

If you do end up staying in the hotel, be warned that the food is mediocre at best. Given the fact that Parma has a reputation as one of the best place in Italy to eat this is a huge disadvantage. Breakfast was average, absolutely nothing out of the ordinary, without fresh fruit or fresh coffee (a machine instead- again, in Italy one shouldn't have to settle for that)

I was never able to get the internet in my room to work, so as a business hotel it fails too. The gym was tiny (but just adequate) and the swimming pool not more than a dipping pool.

I guess it is convenient for companies who want a characterless place to stay at an affordable price but as an independent traveler (beit business or pleasure) I cannot see why one would stay here.
