High on the hill overlooking Tivoli - follow signs to Villa Gregoriana - and then head up the hill on via Q. Varo 500m until the sign for the entrance is straight ahead, continue up the driveway another 800m. The location is beautiful, the building is modern and elegant behind the facade of a 15C castle - very romantic - and a popular wedding venue. The night we stayed there were only 5 or 6 rooms occupied and service was equally sparse. Set dinner (limited choice) was good - but the charge for dessert and coffee which are not included was OUTRAGEOUS . The rooms are small but pleasant, the bathroom could have been cleaned better and the vinyl undersheet on the bed was unusual, to say the least. Surprisingly the satellite TV had only Italian channels and unsurpringly Internet was 7 Euros for an hour....

Overall a beautiful place that lacks the personal touch of good management -

Typical hotel for weddings. Location is great for the view, much less if you don't have a car. Nevertheless, the rooms are clean, not too large and the building is nice.

I stayed here for four nights with a group who were visiting archaeological sites in Lazio. In the bedroom handles came off the drawers when you opened them and the cheap vanity unit in the bathroom was damaged. The pillowcase had holes in it. Breakfast was meagre and included a coloured drink that seemed to be made from powder, instant coffee and tasteless portion controlled jam. A complaint resulted in hard boiled eggs and a small plate of ham and cheese. There were no bread rolls, only sliced bread and a few croissants. At dinner in the restaurant one elderly waiter seemed resentful of our presence and virually threw the plates on the table.
On the Friday night many of us were kept awake until the early hours by the kareoke going on downstairs (a wedding); there was no apology from the hotel. Fortunately they were too busy to cook for us on Friday and Saturday and we ended up having two very nice meals at the Cavallino Rosso in Tivoli.

I would say my stay was better than "terrible" for two reasons. The maid did her best to keep the room and bathroom clean and there was one young waiter (from the Amalfi area) who seemed to do most of the work and was very helpful. I was told that this hotel makes most of its money for weddings and so cannot be bothered with "ordinary" guests.

We hosted 50 family and friends here in October for our wedding and can't say enough great things about the hotel. The hillside location overlooking Tivoli and Rome was wonderful. The hotel staff made us and all of our guests feel welcome and well cared-for. The hotel is a little old but quite charming and still seemed very well cared for. The dinner and service for the reception was terrific. It's a great place for a group traveling or anyone traveling through Lazio. Front desk provided great service. Only downside was very snobby service in the restaurant the night before the wedding. The friendliness and service of the reception waitstaff more than made up for a couple of stuffy old men the night before, though! The website's photos are really accurate! It's exactly as it looks in the photos.
