“What a delightful guest house in Tivoli”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

If you're planning a day trip to Tivoli to see the Villa D'Este, then don't. Make it an overnight trip instead, and stay at this delightful guest house just off the main area in Tivoli town centre. Room rates are much better value than staying in Rome, and you get more time to visit the UNESCO sites of Villa D'Este and Villa Adriana, and also the wonderful waterfalls of Villa Gregoriana.

The beautiful hosts Manuelo and Marco can meet you at the station, or you can try to find it yourselves, signposted off into a small alleyway, which isn't as dodgey as it sounds. The location is pretty much central between the Villa D'Este and the Villa Gregoriana. They also speak perfect English, which is rarer in Tivoli than in Rome!

All the rooms are artistically decorated. The one I stayed in had a four poster bed and angels painted everywhere. A good continental breakfast is served in the garden. They also run a restaurant in a 2000 year old converted cellar, which isn't included in the B&B price, but definitely worth spending an evening there.

“Thank you Manuela & Marco for your hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

A wonderful experience staying at Fermati Che E' Tardi. Our hosts (Manuela & Marco) could not have been better. They have a fascinating restaurant nearby (Antiche Terme di Diana ) with the most accommodating staff - you must go there for dinner. Breakfast was excellent. 6 of us occupied 3 rooms. We arrived on a stormy night; I had no GPS or cell service, so we found it on our own; Via Roma north, go over Ponte Gregoriano, and keep bearing left on Via Sosili and Via D Giuliani) you will see a sign for it on an alley-way. What a location - steps away from bustling piazzas and Ville d'Este, but private and quiet. The rooms are exotic and spacious (2 rooms with round beds and canopies). One of the rooms can accomodate 3. We will return.

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2009

Although this B&B is tough to find on your own, Tivoli is an old town complicated by changing street names and street directions (plan on your GPS system not working in Tivoli), the owners will come and get you from the main square, speak excellent english, and really go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. It was a perfect way to start our trip since we had all spent time in Rome on past trips and were planning to spend time there on our way out of the country. Tivoli is about 45 minutes from the airport and easy to find (the GPS works to get you there). The B&B has comfortable rooms with really large bathrooms and a fantastic breakfast that is geared to what you would like, they allow you to determine if you want yogurt, breads, fruits, or meats and cheeses, or all of it. The family owns a nearby restaurant where breakfast was served, it is popular with locals for dinner and is in an amazing underground old spa. Tivoli is a small town that has some incredible views of Rome and the area as it is on top of a mountain and is really cute, the Italians their have their extended families and there are children walking the streets and playing with their friends and the main square at sunset has families walking (the promenade) together and friends sitting and catching up on the day. There is a lady who sells fruit in the AM there who had beautiful, tasty grapes. It is also the place in town to get free WiFi. Villa D Este, in town, is a not to be missed sight! It truly is a water engineering feat, we must have taken 500 pictures none of which do it justice.
