We stayed at the Monti guest house for 3 nights. We stayed in the Romantic suite on the top floor. It was plenty big enough with a double bed, small table with two chairs, ensuite bathroom & a private roof terrace just for our use leading off the bedroom.
The roof terrace was the main aspect to this room that made it amazing! You have views over looking the old Roman cobbled streets. It was the perfect place to have breakfast in the morning & to have a drink in the evening. The breakfast wasn't alot, we had a hot drink each, a pastry & some kind of bruschetta toast. So it wasn't filling, but it was ok. This would be served to our room in the morning at whatever time we decided. The bedroom was clean & the bed was remade every day. The bathroom was a little odd. The shower was quite small & the shower head & shower curtain were dirty, like they just needed some updating. & by the end of our stay the toilet had broken & wouldn't flush. This didn't bother us though as we just wanted to spend as much time exploring Rome as possible, so wouldn't be in the room for that long. But if I had to say one thing could be changed, it would be the bathroom. Don't let this stop you from staying at Monti though as our room was lovely & we really enjoyed it. I don't know what the other rooms were like, but I would definitely recommend the room we had. The person we saw on reception the most was a lovely lady, although I didn't get her name. She didn't speak much English, but I enjoy trying the different languages when I visit a different country. I wouldn't expect people to speak English for my sake. The location is excellent & is just around the corner from Cavour Metro. As the Metro links in Rome aren't that good (there are only two lines on the underground Metro) It was very handy to be right near a Metro stop. You have to be prepared to walk alot in Rome. The area we stayed was great for small little restaurants & we went to the one across the road a couple of times & the food & service were brilliant. Also, staying here you are around the corner from the Colosseum, & there was also an excellent restaurant oppsite The Colosseum where we ate on our last night. We would definitely stay here again. I have read bad reviews about this Guest house, but I don't understand what these people expect for the money. I am glad I gave it the benefit of the doubt & didn't pay attention to the bad reviews. Go with an open mind & you won't be disapointed.
Room Tip: The Romantic Suite, cool & not noisy at all.
