“5 stars for Katrina the polyglot receptionist !”

I do hope the owners of this hotel realise what a treasure they have in this impeccably dressed well mannered and most hepful receptionist who was a beacon of light in an overwhelmingly shabby but cheerful establishment. She would grace any one of the 5 star establishments anywhere in the world.in the world. She was the magnificent difference between a stay you might want to forget but will always remember.
The other big upside is the location location location. Walk out of termini turn left go 100m cross the road and there you are. NOTHING COULD BE CLOSER. Just don't be put off by the Adams family exterior, the hangers on who congregate on the steps day and night, the broom cupboard reception, the incredibly ancient wheezy asthmatic lift. and the fort knox type steel door with 5 deadlocks on the 5th floor, where if you slam the room door too hard, the architrave falls off !!!. Just remember the lovely Katrina is downstairs and all will be well. She will even join you at 8am for your coffee and a bun round the corner if you are lucky. Rooms were ok for the price and reasonbly equipped and clean.

“we were robbed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

We booked a room for five people, air conditioning, private bathroom. When we reached the hotel, asked to stay with our passports and not leave. We look forward to close the book and got on. When we reached the floor of the rooms, the maid told us that it had the room we had booked and gave us a room to two people, one quarter to three, but no private bathroom. Still, he said he would be giving us a bottle of wine and two bottles of water. The bottles were not sealed and therefore do not drink anything. The other day we went to see the city and when we returned, our things were all in the hall because they had occupied our rooms and put us in another room for five people, with private bathroom but no air conditioning. When we were taking our stuff to another room, the maid was praising one of the things the girls and then we left the hotel we noticed that she stole a belt, a scarf and an earring. The hotel is old, dirty, ugly, they do not respect the customer. are dishonest. night receptionist is rude. Anyway, the hotel is awful.

This hotel is the perfect choice for those who wanna enjoy their staying in Rome for quite an appropriate sum of money! Ideal location of the hotel in the center of the city, pleasant and very polite receptionist, who speaks 3 ore more languages and always ready to give a helping hand, small but very comfortable rooms! So if you want to enjoy Rome and save your money Caput Mundi Hotel is the perfect choice!

“Terrible Hotel - just don't go there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2009

Day 1 We arrived to find that we couldn't have the en-suite room we booked online because the previous occupant wanted to stay longer. We were offered one on the fifth floor with a shared bathroom, just for two days. It was 8pm so we accepted. The room had no bedside lights, no mirror and a TV that did not work.
Day 2 Hardly any hot water in the shower. We found that "breakfast included" meant that we had to go to a cafe around the block. It had no chairs and no croissants, The only thing to eat was lemon cake. Back at the hotel we found the door of our room was very difficult to lock each time we went out and when we finally managed it part of the doorframe fell off, bringing some chunks of plaster with it. I complained.
Day 3 Even less hot water in the shower. We had to pack up our cases and move downstairs to the en-suite we originally reserved. In the evening there was no hot water at all, and no towels in the room either. I complained more assertively. I heard reception shouting on the phone to a plumber. Also a lot of other people shouting, clumping, ringing the doorbell 17 times etc throughout the night.
Day 4 The manager seemed really surprised when we said we were leaving!
