“Good Room - So So Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2009

I'm an older solo male traveler who initially found the Hotel Dolomiti as a fair value given it's location and last minute availability in Rome. Pretty much mid-range and appreciate locations close to the rail station which the Dolomiti is. When I first arrived I went to the ground floor lobby only to be told that the Dolomiti lobby is one floor up of which I carried my bag. There is an elevator but stops a 1/2 flight above the floor you select so there is some bag carrying and stair climbing involved. As others have stated, it's not close to Rome attractions so you will need to be prepared to fill some transportation needs on your own. It is close to the hop-on hop-off city bus tour which boards next to the train station which is a plus for as long as you want to use it. I found the daytime staff lady to be nicest and helpful as well as the younger gentleman but not necessarily all others. Especially the breakfast lady seemed bossy laying out a whole list of rules to follow for breakfast - where to sit and how to serve yourself etc. I just walked out twice until the third time she just welcomed me and left me alone. On my last day she told me they were full and I again left not wanting to deal with her for a simple bite to eat. No complaints of the room itself which was clean and reasonably sized and had AC. Wi-Fi was charged to my room at a rate of 6E/3hrs 10E/6hrs ... Next time I would pay more for a room between the attractions (ruins and Vatican) shorten the stay and eliminate all the walking.

“Great location”

The location of the hotel was very convenient. We could walk to the main train station or a smaller stop close by. The room was adequate, clean and tidy. Breakfast was included which was a smorgasbord. On more than one morning we were completely ignored by the breakfast staff, while locals were offerred fresh coffee/cuppacino immediately upon entering the room. On every occassion we (as westerners) had to ask for our coffee. We also found one staff member on the desk to be very rude. Free internet for 10 mins on hotel computer was handy. Lift doesn't go to every floor, so be prepared to carry your bags. Entry to hotel under renovation while we were there.

“rooms in good condition, ok location, helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2009

Stayed there for 4 nights, the hotel was clean, rooms are almost new as well as the bathroom.
Some disadvantages:
The heating is always off it seems.
The single room is very small and narrow (4-5 m2!), just enough for a single bed and a table.
The window was very small not enough to air the room plus looked to a balcony that was used by the cleaning lady every day at 7 am to arrange her mop, fill her bucket with water from an external tap. Thanks God I was to start my days early anyway.

“Close to train station, decent rooms, helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2009

Stayed here with a group of friends in our late 20s. I was in a triple room - kind of small, but 2 large windows and comfortable enough. The bathroom was very small, but clean. We booked at Dolomiti, but our rooms were in Hotel Lacheas (or something like that) - apparently it is owned by the same people. Some of my friends were in Hotel Dolomiti, so I saw their rooms, and our front desk and breakfast was in Hotel Dolomiti.

Breakfast was ok - there was a woman who made me coffee, but only on the last day of my 3 night stay. Not a huge selection.

“Nice Place for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2008

Hotel is close to the Termini Train Station within easy walking distance. Staff was very friendly and spoke English well. I had emailed the hotel prior to our visit to arrange for us to drop off our luggage so we go sightseeing (we arrived in Rome at 9:00 am). They said it was no problem and they had a secure area to store it. It turned out our room was ready and we just put our luggage there. We told the checkin person that we where leaving early and he asked if we would like a sack breakfast to take with us. It was in our fridge when we got back that evening (Juice, roll, croissant and jam; a good sack breakfast ).

Hotel is small, it shares the building with one or two other hotels. The room is small but clean and comfortable. Room is quiet. Not a luxury hotel obviously, but I found it to be a good value for the price.
