I stayed in this strange hotel for only one night and was completely demolished by bed bug. I have had bad experiences in the past so I do my best to check but it was no help in this case. Heed my warnings and don't stay here unless you have time to treat all of your belongings for bugs.

We were moving to Italy for a year and had LOTS of luggage--and were also looking for a bargain. So the location of this 'hotel/hostel was appealing. It truly is just minutes away from Termini Station, even hauling maximum luggage, but not on a busy main street, so my husband chose this place. I wanted one around the corner that offered a free bottle of wine the first night, but for slightly less money agreed on the Hotel Beautiful due to location.

The entrance is confusing, as there are several hotels or hostels in the building and we couldn't figure the elevator out the first time around and hauled more luggage than we needed to. I agree with an earlier review that the manager, 'Mike', is a more familiar than I'm used to from someone at a hotel desk. But he did answer all of our questions thoroughly. When we asked if there was a discount for using cash, he at first said no, but then when we were paying, winked and gave us a small discount. He gave us a discount ticket for a nice, simple bistro nearby where we saved a good amount of money and had a simple inexpensive meal at a table on the sidewalk. When he found out we would be living in Viterbo for a year, he threw in a bottle of wine as well which made me happy, since that is what I gave up at the place I was inclined to choose.

We had a private room that was clean and serviceable. We didn't see air conditioning, which was okay for that night (barely), but would have been intolerable on a truly hot night. It wasn't noisy in our part of the hotel.

I am giving it an average rating because IN ITS PRICE RANGE in a city like Rome, it provided basic value for a basic rate.

Horrible service. Liars and thieves. Do not stay here. They will rip you off. I booked a room for two as a female and was placed with a guy on the second night. I complained and said I was not comfortable alone with a guy in a room and they did not do anything about it. The Manager of the place, claims his name is MIke talks to you as if he was a friend and engages in appropriate conversations and behavior. They have no professionalism in their approach to their business. One of the receptionists was truly careless and argumentative. DO NOT GO!!! Had no sleep on my second night because of loud people and others cooking at 2. 30 am.

As I was transiting Rome I needed to stay very near the train station so selected this property. Oh my! For the price I shouldn’t complain but the room (not one allocated to backpackers) was less than basic with party goers who evidently did not sleep talking loudly in a lounge along the hallway. I was allocated a single room in the private “more expensive” section reached by an out of date lift that did not work all the time as I had to carry my cases down 4 flights of stairs on departure. The shower towel was thread bare, the shower less than one would reasonably expect, the bed small & the room had inadequate lighting. I was glad to have a very earlier train departure.
