“didn't actually stay at the B&B Caty ... could have saved 40 euro”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights in September. We arrived at the apartments an hour earlier than we indicated to Simone. We had difficulty contacting him on his cell, but luckily he arrived early to meet us, so we only waited 30 minutes on the street. He brought us into the apartments that we thought we were staying at. He did some paperwork. 10 minutes later he took us across the street to a beautiful cathedral that also operated as a B&B, called Domus Sessoriana. We then spent another 5 minutes checking in here. Both Simone and the front desk employee at Domus Sessoriana were very welcoming and polite, but needless to say my husband and I were a bit confused with the change of location, and very tired from our 9 hour flight. The employee at DS told us the total charge for our 4 night stay - 40 euros cheaper than the amount quoted on expedia. Then Simone and him had a lengthly and heated conversation in Italian. After their discussion, the DS employee stated that an additional 40 euros cash needed to be provided to Simon. Because it was the amount we expected to pay, we were not concerned about the price, but in hindsight we could have saved a lot of hassle and 40 euros had we just booked direclty with Domus Sessoriana. Because their check in operates 24 hours, we would not have had to wait on the street corner in the hot sun for Simone. It seems like we paid more to be inconvenienced. Simone was very nice, professional, and helped us to our room with our luggage. He also reminded us to call him if we needed anything during our stay.
The rest of my comments are about Domus Sessoriana. Definately great value for money. The service was great at the front desk. All of the employees were very friendly and helpful. They helped us book reservations for museums, and gave us some tips on the neighbourhood. The room was very clean. We did not have access to a kitchen as indicated on the Caty B&B sight, but had a generous and fresh breakfast every morning. Breakfast included cold meats, cheeses, fresh crossiants and breads, cakes, juices and coffee. The location was perfect - away from a lot of the touristy sights and crowds, and easy access to 2 metro stations - 7 minute walk. There is a great cafe and bakery across the street (beside Cat B&B), and some great restaurants in the neighbourhood. The bed at Domus Sessoriana was not the most comfortable.
For value for your money, location, safety, and service, we would recommend Domus Sessoriana to anyone looking for an economical stay in Rome away from the crowds.

“Excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

The best thing about B&B Caty was its location. We used the metro on our first day, it was a short walk away. By the second day we had learnt that there were two convenient and frequent buses - one was right outside and the other was just round the corner. Both buses went to tourist spots. The 649 bus around the corner takes you to the Terminal station, very useful for if you will be taking the train, if you are carrying lots of luggage, the bus is definitely better than the metro. You can also use the 649 bus as a transit bus, because all the different tourist spots will definitely have a bus that goes back to the Terminal station and then you can then just take the 649 bus to get back to the B&B. The ride is only 5mins.

Aside from its excellent location, Simone was helpful before and after my stay. I accidentally left some money behind (!!!) and he couriered them back to me!

I didn't find the room noisy at night. I stayed in a room with a private bathroom, the room was incredibly spacious, lots of storage space and it also had free wi-fi.

This place was incredible for the price paid!

“Location is key”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

We stayed 4 nights. Simone was helpful and reasonable when we changed our reservation from 5 nights to 4. It was clean but our shower went from hot to cold on a whim. We were there during an exceptionally hot September. Typically air conditioning only available June-Aug. We couldn't leave the window open for air as the street noise is incredable, constant motor bikes day and night. Thank goodness Simone took pity on us and agreed to put air on during our stay. It is fairly close to to most attractions with a bus stop out front, The cafe around the corner has delicious gelato for a good price. The grocery store nearby is also helpful for simple eating supplies. All in all I think it is a good buy for Rome.

“Un esperienza da ripetere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

Very well organized, comfy and pleasant highly recommended it could be compared easily to a 5 star hotel room, and its position is central so that its near to the most beautiful sites of Rome like colosseum, spanish steps, trevi' s fountain etc etc.
At night the room are isolated from the road so its really comfortable to sleep and rest. I was there for business but if you go for vacation it will work greatly and it s price its very accessible, i m sure if i ll ever go back to rome i ll stay there again.
