Just returned from Italy, what a fantastic place to visit, Gaeta its self was ok by night, but quite dead in the day at this time of the year. The old town was almost like a ghost town from an old western movie, the only thing missing was the hay balls and the creaking sign blowing in the wind. The beeches had golden sands, the sea crystal clear and warm. It would probably be a good idea to hire a car, as travelling around can be quite complicated if you are not use to the public transport system.
Now then ... ...the HOTEL SERAPO Hmmmn ! I think only one of the Hotel staff smiled the whole time that we were there. They don't seem very friendly, and at sometimes you get the impression that they wish you would go away and not bother them! . When we arrived at the Hotel, we were given a room key and just pointed in the direction of the stairs, in other words, go find your own way! . The rooms were basic but clean; the bathroom needed updating and the breakfasts quite poor, however the view from the balcony almost made up for this. The indoor swimming pool was being re furbished whilst we were there, so out of bounds. When we checked out of the Hotel, we went to the reception to hand in our room key......The male receptionist looked over his glasses.... took the key.... and then carried on doing what he was doing..... Not a thank you for staying, goodbye or nothing, you would at least think they would ask if you had a good stay, but no! ... I would only rate this hotel 2*
