My only regret is that we did not stay longer; we had only the one afternoon and evening before our departure. We arrived at La Dimora early on a Monday following two weeks of busy touring. After wondering what next to do, we decided we could just relax. We were impressed by the Basilicata landscape and refreshed by the fresh air. We spent a restorative afternoon reading our books and watching sheep. We had only snacks for lunch so we were hungry at dinnertime. We gobbled up the antipasto only to discover there were at least three more “cold” antipasti, four “hot” antipasti, two pastas, several lamb chops, dolci, fruit, cheeses, wine and liqueur all homegrown or locally sourced and freshly homemade. Dinner was an unforgettably and indescribably delicious experience, not only for the exquisite cuisine but also for the intelligent and thoughtful company of Rosario and Paolo. I loved that peaceful, scrumptious, authentic experience.
