We went there for new year' eve and I woke up on the 1st of january with a lot of bites because of bedbugs!!! When I showed it to the receptionist, she didn't listen to me and I had to insist and show a bug to have another room...
The manager didn't give me a discount a I had to pay the full price... Don't recommend you to go there...

“Good Family Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

This hotel has large family rooms which are great for a group. We were a family of five and getting a hotel to accomodate us was a challenge unless we booked two rooms. The room we had here was very spacious and we never felt cramped. AS noted, it is not in the center of town, but only a 10 minute walk to the Metro. It is at the bottom of a steep hill which was a bit of a challenge for my 325 lb. brother in law, but not for anyone else in the group.
The breakfast is plain but it is free. If you want something more, go across the street to the cafe and get eggs and whatever else you want.
The rooms are clean. The staff is very cordial and helpful and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

“Issues”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

I have to agree with the previous reviewer. This is a nice place but has huge issues. It is really noisy at the weekend and you will struggle to sleep till 3.00 am. The double glazing does not seem to work at stopping sound. It is also really out of the main part of Madrid.. We found that if you walked up the street and turned right and then crossed the road there were lots of nice bars with outside seating. We would not go back as you really need to allow 35 minutes from the centre to the hotel via the metro. A real shame as the actual hotel is quite nice!

“First class facility but location an issue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2011

This is a fine property in every way. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff is excellent and the buffet breakfast was adequate. The only downside of the room is that ours was in the front of the hotel and we were constantly awakened by the taxis arriving, particularly to pick up early morning departees. Make sure you get a room away from the street. If we had stayed we would have changed rooms. The rate we paid (about 80euro) was very low for such a nice facility. However, it is located in a largely commercial area a good walk to the metro ( the first 200 meters steeply uphill) and then a 20-30 minute metro ride into downtown Madrid. It is really not convenient if one wishes to do a lot of sightseeing with the option of returning to the hotel for a break. Because of this, we moved out after the first two nights of a planned 6 night stay. Hated to leave such a nice place, but the location just didn't work for us. Just be aware of this potential before you book. There is also little in the immediate area of any interest. Given that there are nice hotels in downtown Madrid- consider those first.

“Great hotel, especially for the price, wonderful staff, ever so SLIGHTLY let down by a few minor points..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2011

Pros : Beautifully appointed, clean, spacious rooms, helpful, informative staff, location not far from Metro, affordable/reasonably priced, free breakfast*
Cons: slight wear and tear in bathroom, poor breakfast, gym completely dysfunctional, no English speaking TV channels (not even anyENglish speaking news programmes)

ROOMS

I want to start off by saying that I loved this aparthotel overall in spite of its flaws. This is because I rate the importance of nice rooms quite highly, and the rooms were well cleaned, very spacious for our family of four, and the furniture was large, of a high quality. The kitchenette was a nice off-white, steel-effect microwave (although we never used ours) - the room came together nicely.

The bathroom was beautiful also , lovely ceramic countertop basin, on top of wooden cabinet, small black mosaic tiling in shower (no bath, but that was fine with us) - portable shower head. The down side about the shower was that shower door only closed part of the way, so there was a huge gap and water sprays out onto the floor outside the bathroom - over time I could see that the bottom of the wall had sustained some water damage, and the bathroom cabinet also. Had they installed a proper shower door this would have been avoided altogether.

The room has "climate control" which I guess is the same as air conditioning - I found it was a bit difficult to master. Most of the time it was either blowing out hot air (not what you want in hot weather) or too cold. Took a bit of time to know how to get it to work well, but once you master it, it does the job.

LOCATION

The hotel is not in the centre of action, but it is about 5-10 mins walk away from a Metro station which gets you where you want to be. Hotel is also at bottom of a hill - I didn't mind because I feel I needed the exercise lol, but if you aren't too fit or good on your feet, it could prove tricky. Not many nice shops and restaurants in the area, you probably need to go central to see those, but there is a great Chinese restaurant about 5-10 mins walk from the hotel. Ask receptionist for Da-fa restaurant, if you fancy a break from paella and bocadillos lol

STAFF

Can't fault them. Helpful and friendly and family-centric. One lady in particular (my daughter reckons her name is Kelly, but I am not so sure) was really lovely with my children, gave them pencils and pictures to colour in, and lolly. How I wish I had taken note of her name, she was delightful. Overall they were all nice and informative.

OTHER FEATURES

Breakfast:

Disappointing. Consists of brown or white bread, butter or jams, tinned fruit, processed meats and salami- or processed cheese, plain yoghurt, tinned fruit, croissants and pain or chocolats. I would have killed for some fresh fruit, or a slice of bacon!! If I had paid extra for the breakfast, I would have wanted to get my money back - luckily I got it for free because I booked via the hotel website. When you have children, skipping brekkie is not an option sadly.

Gym

Very disappointing. It's in the next building, on the roof, which WOULD have been great if anything worked - but nothing did!! Except the free weights of course. And there is no-one there to help you figure it out, unless you want to go all the way down the stairs again and back to the hotel to ask the receptionist how to work the machines (which I couldn't be bothered to do).

Altogether I really enjoyed my stay - I would recommend this to anyone except someone who wanted to use a gym, or wanted to eat a hearty breakfast ha ha.

Room Tip: Book via the hotel website and breakfast is free!
