“Back to the 70's”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Getting to the hotel is a slog. You have to take the free bus provided by the hotel. But the bus provided by the Hilton was both nicer and the driver better turned out. Check in was fine. The room is massive and perfectly comfortable. The whole place has a cavernous 70's look and feel. The dinner buffet was one of the worst meals I have ever had in Europe. The food was unappetizing and the selection poor. At the price that they charge for the buffet, not worth it at all. The a la carte selection is also not worth considering. So eat at the airport.

“OK for airport stopover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

This hotel survives on airport business - aircrew and stranded passengers, for the most part. The building is in good condition, and the room, though on the small side, was quite OK. The public areas are grandiose and not very welcoming.

The evening dinner buffet was poor. We were on an inclusive rate, but I would have been appalled if I had been billed the menu price. There was little choice, and the main courses were all dried out over warming-pans. It was not at all the standard we would have expected from a Melia. Despite there being many staff, service was patchy. Don't eat an evening meal here - there is a Hostal across the road which is almost certainly cheaper and more welcoming.

The buffet breakfast, on the other hand was brilliant (although we gather from other reviews that the price is eye-watering if billed separately).

The shuttle worked OK: but there is nowhere to sit, inside or out, when waiting for the minivan. As it runs on a 20-minute schedule, this might be difficult for some.

“Fine Stay Near Barajas”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Arrived on a very delayed flight near midnight and grabbed the shuttle...no problem. Very large room and elegant although clearly last rennovated in the mid-1990's. Needs refreshing. Good for an overnight stay near the airport if you get a good rate. Close to public transport if you are stranded and need to go into Madrid, and the town is OK with everything you would expect in a cosmopiltan Spanish suburb. Service formal and a bit cold. Breakfast extortionate...take the subway into Madrid and have a good coffee if you have time.

“Perfect last night near airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

We got in on a late train and got to the hotel around 11 pm (with a morning flight back to the US in the morning). Check-in was quick, the room was clean and comfortable, and the shuttle service efficient. The price was very reasonable as well. Couldn't have planned it better.

“Good value for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

Good hotel, with a nice service to and from the airport. The room was huge, almost a mini apartment and quite cheap. It is also very close to the metro that that takes you to the center. The service was good, the breakfast and lunch just excellent.
