The hostal was clean and had a good location. It is walking distance to the three big museums,Atocha train station, Puerta del Sol, nice cafe on the street called Cafe Bar Alma.
The rooms are small but I expected that. The shower in room #4 is a nightmare. No matter what, you will get the whole bath soaked. The other rooms not quite as bad.
The price is very good.
The key situation is a pain! You have one key for street door one to get into hostal and one to get in your room. None of the keys work well. You must jiggle and pull out slightly til you get them just right. The owner lives next door and has three very young children and is totally overworked. There is one young maid who works very hard but is not the nicest. One of my travel mates didn't get the wakeup knock she needed. Just not the most welcoming place I have stayed.
